Dark brown reddish clear with off-white lacing head. Medium heavy body with light carbonation. Starts sweet with malty grains, raisins, coffee and licorice. Bitter chocolate. Mild bitterness and coffee grounds. Toasted or slightly burnt grains. Neutral fruit finish. Tongue-coating sweetness with light coffee bitter after.

Bittersweet chocolate sweetness with a roasty bitterness and a touch of hop. Medium to full body with a creamy mouth feel and a slightly dry finish. Well done. Poured a kind of thin looking (for a porter) cola ruby color. Aroma was roasted malt and some coffee bitterness. Flavor was a little on the butter end with some nice roast, but overall a little thin. The aroma was bitter and roasty with notes of coffee. The flavor was bitter, roasty and grainy with a hint of caramel and coffee. The finish was long, bitter and roasty. Ok. tronraner (1906), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Mar 2, 2009 Draught at the brewpub. Pours ruby-hued brown with nice khaki head. The aroma is ashy with notes of chocolate and tobacco, some black pepper, and earth. The flavor is pepper and ash with some burnt sourness. Hints of coffee grounds pop up here and there. There’s a bit of earthy hop bitterness in the finish. Silky sweet body, chocolate on the finish.
