A German style wheat beer that employs a high percentage of wheat malt and a distinctive yeast strain to create an unforgettable thirst quenching beer. Traditionally cloudy, tart, and fruity, it is often served with a slice of lemon (upon request).

Served on-tap at the brewpub. A - Pours slightly murky golden orange with a nice one finger tall white head, dissipating down to a small ring around the outside of the glass leaving very little lace down the glass. S - Smells of fresh fruit - mostly apples, bananas and possibly some pears - quickly giving way to hints of clove, bubblegum, black pepper and the ever present bready wheat. T - Tastes just like the nose smells. Starts off with a nice dose of sweet juicy fruit quickly giving way to a big chewy wheat kick with hints of spicy yeast and clove. Finish is a mix of sweetness and light chewiness, clinging to the pallet long after consumption. M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. This one is pretty sweet compared to others I have had from the style, other than that pretty typical hefeweizen. O - Last beer I had on the day and it was a really nice palate refresher. It has nearly all of the flavors I prefer in a hefe and the slightly higher than average sweetness was a welcome addition. I won’t be rushing back up there for more but I won’t turn it down anytime soon.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2011 Pours a hazy orange with a thin white head. A bit of spice on the nose and parts of those clove, banana, and other notes you expect with a hefeweizen that are strongly expressed on the finish. I underestimated this one the first time I had it.

Tap at tge brewery. Pours a milky deep orange with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of ripe banana, clove and grainy wheat notes. Flavor of ripe banana, kind of sweet malty notes and some other various fruity notes. Lots of banana.

On tap at the brewpub 6/8/08: Pours a hazy dark golden with a thin ring of effervescent white head. Aroma of sweet malted wheat, some lemon zest, banana and clove esters and a touch of soapy German yeast. Body starts lightly sweet and effervescent with some peppery clove notes before a thinner, lightly sweet and tart finish. An ok hefeweizen, but needs a little more balance and authenticity.

Brewed in the USA..... On tap at the pub !! Pours a hazy straw color with a medium white head. Aroma of yeast, lemons, cloves and mild spices. Taste of bananas, cloves, yeast and wheat. The mouthfeel is medium in body, kind of fruity with a slightly spiced aftertaste. Overall, This was a pretty good Hefeweizen. * Waitress asked if i would want a lemon with my beer and i said no thank you.....lol.

Tap at the brewpub. Aroma of yeast, wheat bread, some clove as it warms, musty attic. Flavor sweet with vague clove and vague lemon. Somewhat weak mouthfeel, not really creamy. Pretty bland hefe.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy orange with a ring of white head. Aroma of bread, wheat, clove, and light spices. Flavor is quite bready/malty with sweet malt in the finish. Not much clove or spices in the flavor. Easy drinking, but a little dull. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

Tap @ brewpub. This beer comes to me as the headless wonder, surprising must be the stupid lemon they point on there or it sat a while before we got it at the table. Pretty still looking as well, dark yellow color, cannot see through it. Aroma is muted esters surrounded by a thick maltiness of muted dough. Just a very wrong balance there. Similarly, the flavor is just too thick on the muted malts and again misplaced esters. It is not that bad but definitely needs work and this is the only strike I had at the brewpub. Even the body is a bit too thick for a hefe.

Murky golden appearance witha sour yeast aroma. Slight head with an offwhite color. Yeasty tangy taste with hints of banana and citrus. Foamy smooth palate with a tangy obtrusive aftertaste.
