On tap at brewpub. Poured a cloudy light brown with a firm 1cm high light brown creamy head. Sweet caramel nose, with yeast, alcohol, and banana bread. Sweet and malty flavor, yeasty and lightly alcoholic on the finish with lots of bananas. Full bodied slightly sticky mouthfeel with very soft carbonation. A very nice dubble, stands up to many of the classics. Nicely warming but alcohol very well hidden in the flavor. Not sure about the other ratings on this beer, but because they are such a small brewery their batches are pretty small, it may be possible they tweak the recipie often? Mine was very good.

really nice double, has a dark ruby purple colour, sweet aroma. flavour was sweet a bit fruity, seemed to have a bit of grape in the flavour, a bit dry, has a nice subtle aftertaste of toffee.

Day-old growler, filled @ Selin’s Grove. Pours a dark, hazy amber-brown color; thin, light tan head with patchy retention and solid lacing. Brown sugar and dried fruits in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: cola, dried dark fruits, and brown sugar upfront; a white pepper / dry yeastiness is present as well, but ultimately the mouthfeel seems a bit muddled: a bit syrupy, coupled with an almost tannic brown sugar presence; not chalky, but close. Plenty of cola and brown sugar in the finish.

From the last keg of the 2006, tapped June 21. Brown and burgundy colored body. Spicy caramel and nutmeg yeast in the nose. Peppery cola-like flavor, like ginger ale as well, peppery and spicy nutmeg and cinnamon flavors... a weird beer, high alcohol apparency, almost boozy, with too much of this sugary, fizzy almond and cola flavor. I wasn’t very impressed.

On tap at the brewpub. Copper/amber, with a white head. Aroma is spices, sugar, and fruit. Flavor is spices, caramel, yeast, and fruit. I enjoyed this one a lot.

I agree with kramer17801, this was an absolute beauty of a beer. aroma was slightly sour with lots of esters and carmel malt. dark brown in color with a quarter inch of creamy, head that unfortunatly dissapaited quickly. flavor was stupendous pretty much a cross between a flemish sour and a dubbel. genious to mix the 3 year old dubbel with this years batch. From reading the website the have done that in the recipe from last years, so it really is a different beer. bloody delicious. nice palate with soft carbination. stands up to any dubbel, I think it tops Westmalle.
