COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belgian IPA: It’s not for the masses, it’s for you. Rejecting traditional brewing dogma, the Infidel challenges the notion of beers fitting neatly into established style guidelines. The assertive, citrus hoppiness of an American IPA unites with the traditional spicy notes of a Belgian Pale Ale to create a bold, beautiful, palate-pleasing brew.

On tap at enoteca in post falls, id. Light amber, foamy white head, a little bit hazy. Aroma is citrus, pine, hops. Taste: nice malty sweetness, caramel, honey. Moderate hop bitterness finish (citrus and pine). Mouthfeel: medium body, nice smooth finish, just the right amount of bitterness. Overall: really very nice - an unexpected treat. Didn't expect something like this coming out of northern Idaho. I'm looking forward to trying more from this brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Rich, hazy deep copper and amber coloured body with a dense, single centimetre tall tan microfoamed head. Aroma of pungent earthy and nutty hops, caramel, hints of resin and a big floral character with plenty of yeast throughout. Medium-bodied; Strong hop notes hit up front with resin and pine showing through and a good, but not unique yeast character coupled with some nice malts that create a silky body. Aftertaste shows a good balance of hops versus the malt, but the floral and perfumey character is perhaps a bit outweighing the yeast and dryness that I’d expect from the style. Overall, a very good beer, all things considered - not the best I’ve had in this style, but a good option and showing plenty of complexity and depth, even if all the flavours didn’t work perfectly to me. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 27-July-2014 for US$8,99 sampled at home in Washington exactly one month later on 27-August-2014.

From bottle into snifter, pours an amazing hue of slightly hazy orange with a thick, frothy head that lingers. Aroma is clean and fruity and the taste is so well balanced...best Belgian IPA I've had in forever. So smooth, no alcohol detected despite being 8.2%. This was a shot in the dark, but turned out to be a double-bullseye. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml bottle thanks going to Lectvay in our trade. Hazy copper color with huge head retention aroma is a tad strange, spicy funky Belgian yeast with some over ripe fruits.

The flavor kind of clashes a bit. The Belgian yeast wants to display itself but it over run by hops. Dry texture with some lingering bitterness. Orange pith, grapefruit and light stone fruits. Chewy yeast texture. The yeast and caramel malt try to balance the hops but... I don’t know, I think if the brewery refines this and takes one element and fine tunes it it will be a better brew. Worth a try for sure but not a fan here. But I do like the creativity in this attempt.

Draft - Big citrus and tropical fruit. Cloudy with a very nice and rich white head. Just as it smells, big fruitiness and a sweet yeasty finish. Quite nice.

750 ml bottle. All the time I had this in my fridge, I thought it was an Abbey. Uh oh. Still, if hops have faded, malty orange with some spice.

Sampled from a bomber bottle, this hoppy ale had a medium to dark orange pour and presented an off-white foamy cover, the head of bubbles had a faint yellow and orange tint to them, the cover lowered to a thinner cover but was always there, it left nice spots and rings of lacing, there was no sediment in the bottle, the nose had aromas of toasted malt, citrus fruit hops, some bread, orange, orange pith, faint grapefruit and peach, the nose was pretty fruity, the flavors were toasted malt with citrus hops, and lots of orange with a touch of grapefruit, there was a little sweetness, the finish had a fine hop bitterness and citrus that dried the palate a bit, the hop bitterness hang around a bit, there was a little malt and fruit sweetness afterwards, the mouth feel was about medium with carbonation that was towards the soft side, it was creamy on the palate, this IPA2 was not a big in your face hop drink but a good drink, a fruity IPA drink, the hops are noticeable but not over the top, the malt is in balance with the hops, this was a very fruity IPA2 drink.

Cloudy light brown. Some Spivey esters and citrus hops on nose. Fairly malty with some peppery spice on muddled malt. Not for me.

Bottle, thnx to boisebeerguy for sending me this. Pours a hazy amber beer with a thin white head on top. Aroma of tropical fruits, slightly malty and has some touches of caramel. Fruityness is defintely overpowering the very nice aroma in a good way. Flavor has loads of fruits, a subtle bitterness that lingers in back and a soft carbonation. Nice in balance, nice IIPA. Good stuff!
