Belgian IPA: It’s not for the masses, it’s for you. Rejecting traditional brewing dogma, the Infidel challenges the notion of beers fitting neatly into established style guidelines. The assertive, citrus hoppiness of an American IPA unites with the traditional spicy notes of a Belgian Pale Ale to create a bold, beautiful, palate-pleasing brew.

Cloudy light brown. Some Spivey esters and citrus hops on nose. Fairly malty with some peppery spice on muddled malt. Not for me.

Bottle, thnx to boisebeerguy for sending me this. Pours a hazy amber beer with a thin white head on top. Aroma of tropical fruits, slightly malty and has some touches of caramel. Fruityness is defintely overpowering the very nice aroma in a good way. Flavor has loads of fruits, a subtle bitterness that lingers in back and a soft carbonation. Nice in balance, nice IIPA. Good stuff!

Bottle shared thanks to MrHangover. Pours hazy orange brown with small tan head. Aroma of grassy hops, tropical fruits, citrus and some yeast. Flavour is light sweet and over moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Aroma of new carpet, not a bad thing for a hybrid Belgian. Beautifully clear dark amber color. From a growler. Large head on first pour that died quickly, much less on subsequent pours. A targeted bitterness. I did not get a citrus profile. Interesting local beer. Got a killer deal.

Poured as a taster at local shop. Pours a rich gold with off-white head. Aroma is more IPA than Belgian and the hops are apparent without the spiciness I associate with Belgian ales on the nose. Taste is also mostly IPA, citrus present, and not much spiciness.

Gold pour, big offwhite head. Hoppy aroma, hoppy flavor with mango notes and a toasty finish.

Nice take on the IPA style. Belgian yeast plays well with the American hops. Mild hoppy bitterness with a touch of the normal Belgian dried fruit sweetness. Very interesting.

Really good IPA, not too much Belgian in the way. Really nice citrus and drinkable, smooth. Capone’s.

Bomber from Hayduke that we shared via facebook chat. I rolled my bottle and had difficulty loosening the yeast but did manage. The result was a honey gold beer that was quite hazy. An off white head that has good retention and leaves fluffy lacing. An aroma that is full of tropical fruit. The first sip is very hot. That alcohol is not well hidden at all. Later fruit comes through and it is tropical. Candi sugar after that. There are plenty of Belgian notes here with both yeast and sugar. Some dry zest. Bitterness is very moderate. That fruit must be from hops but it almost seems like it is yeast sourced. Balance here is between an IIPA and the Belgian influences and it is amazingly well balanced.
