0.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
Part of a 6-pack sampler at The Yard House. Pours very cloudy, the way it should. I could smell the yeast, and I’m glad it was a small amount, because it was RICH! But, that’s what I expect from a heffe.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Angel’s Trumpet. Pours a cloudy yellow-gold with a white head. Notes of wheat, sweet malts, lemon, banana, bubblegum, and faint peppery spice. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet mouthfeel that finishes dry. Really well-done hefe.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Biergarden - Encinitas, CA. Pours cloudy, yellow-gold with a moderate, frothy white head. A real entry-level hefe, this. Restrained character, plenty of dried wheat, a bit of yeast and pale bread. Light bodied with average carbonation. Pretty crisp to finish. Light and easy.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
It pours a hazy yellow with a pillowy white head. Light banana and clove on a fairly muted nose. The flavor is rather weak with the banana barely making it’s way and the clove not to be found. Light wheat notes with a bit too much sweetness. Not bad per se, but closer to a wheat ale than a hefe for me.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at yard house Scottsdale. Pours yellow and fairly clear with a thin white head. Definitely getting the banana on the nose and tongue. Not so much of the clove or that estery thang. Finishes clean. Not bad for a Cali hefe.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy golden color with a white head. Nose is mild banana, sweet bread, yeast, and a hint of clove. Maybe some citrus. The flavor is bland and watered down. Some banana, a bit of clove, bread, and yeast. Very mild citrus notes.
Earlier Rating: 1/23/2011 Total Score: 3.5
A: The pour is the typically turbid golden-orange color with a soapy white head. Unfortunately, served with a slice of lemon...
S: Fortunately, however, this is an actual hefeweizen. The nose is sweet with a decent amount of wheat along with banana and lots of orange peels. Fairly spicy, too.
T: This is probably a bit too bitter to be a proper hefeweizen, but it still works out. Banana and clove along with a touch of pepper. There’s wheat and a slightly sweet bread flavor.
M: The body is medium with a smooth and rolling carbonation.
D: Always nice when the "hefeweizen" turns out to actually be one. Not the best one there is, but still pretty damn drinkable.
