Sweet toast-malty, slightly (chest-)nutty nose, subtle fruity with light notes of caramel. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with an almost creamy mouthfeel. Toast-malty, subtle fruity taste, slightly nutty with notes of caramel and liquorice; almost dry toasty and nutty, sweet and slightly bitter finish. Crystal clear amber colour with lasting beige head. Toffee aroma and mild hop, slightly bleached aroma/flavour. Soft in mouth. Bit of boiled sweet throughout. Candy sugar flavour. Slightly stronger alcohol flavour, bit of whiskey maybe from the malt flavours. 11026 (1886), USA Aug 5, 2004 Amber in color. From a bottle of indeterminate age. Little head. Malty and molasses aroma. Alcohol and malt sweet taste. Slight hop finish. Malt sweetness is overpowering. Generally alcohol flavoured with a slightly off bitter finish. A below average biere de garde.
