Bottle 500ml. @ home.

[ Courtesy of Nikos ]. Clear medium to dark orange colour with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, fruity, woody, dry grass, light citrus, rubber - brett notes. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light heavy bitter with a long duration, caramel, sweet malt, sweet dried fruit, hop bitter, wood bitter, spicy - peppery hops, light hop oil. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft - fizzy. [20131108]

Clear amber color, small steady white head. Fruity, perfumic aroma. Medium-bodied. Very fruity, almost candy-like sweetness. Quite nice fruity DIPA, probably the best Greek beer.

(Bottle, The Local Bar, Athens)
Mid-orange, hazy, with off-white head.
Slightly dusty hops dominate in the aroma. Almost piney.
Taste very hoppy, with no single hop of the three (Amarillo, Centennial, El Dorado) dominating. It’s a bit ’hop juice’. Does cover the alcohol without tasting sweet. (taste: 6+)
Fairly carbonated.
Tingly, lasting hoppy finish. Resiny.
Well-crafted but not my favourite of their beers. Worked better for Nic than for me.
Unusually, Phil did not share this.

Bottle from Greekbeershop.gr. Pours murky dark amber with a big nice looking creamy off-white head. Lovely piney aroma, deep and powerful, sensing the sweet malty body underneath. Taste is fresh, supercrisp resinousy piney, lifted by a generous carbonation level, prickling my mouth all over, also light oily mouthfeel, good balanced, with a perfect level of bitterness, this must be the best beer from Greece by far.

Foffern (1065) - Bodø, NORWAY - SEP 5, 2013
Bottle from Zythodon, Platanias, Greece. Says vintage 2012 on the label (for some reason). Has a hazy deep orange colour with a small, beige head. Fruity flavour with grapes, fruity hops, oak, orange and hints of barnyeard. Complex. The flavour is more like an imperial india pale ale, compact with grapefruit and something herbal, and has some ammonia in the end. Has a slick and rich mouth feel, and a medium bitterness. Is a fruity and complex DIPA. Really one of a kind.

Bottle, 500 ml, bought in Greece and brought all the way back home. Time to drink it! Poured into a tulip glass. ABV 8.2% Very deep orange golden colour on the body, almost light red.Two fingers of off-white head, good retention, light lacing on the glass. Aroma of tropical fruits that hits you right after you open the bottle, some caramel, resin. Taste is malty, lots of tropical fruits, some caramel again. More sweet than bitter but still drinks very pleasantly and the bitterness is present on the aftertaste anyway, along with some spices. Medium thick body, good carbonation with a necessary bite on the tongue and very dry palate. Easily the best greek beer I’ve ever drunk, here is to more creative experiments from Septem and to more wide distribution too.

Aroma is sweet with gooseberry bush, fruity notes and caramel. Flavour is sweet with caramel, hops and biscuits. Surprisingly good and balanced for a Greek DIPA.

500 ml bottle @ PBF 2013.
Pours a dark copper amber colour with a white head. Aroma of floral hops, grapefruit and mandarin orange. Flavour of sweet caramel, floral hops, grapefruit and biscuity malts. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Not at it’s best anymore, but very tasty still.

500ml bottle @ PBF 2013

Pours dark orange with a smooth head. Aroma of sweet toffee, floral hops, hints of grass and malts. Taste is sweet with notes of toffee, floral hops and caramely malts. Finish is sweet, sticky and malty. A bit stuffy and not very fresh.
