Pours amber in color with a finger of frothy head. Smells decently hoppy, a nice citrus note to it with some pineapple and maybe a bit of pine. There is some sweet caramel and toffee, too. A sweet toffee flavor up front followed by assertive booze. A touch of dark fruit and maybe some citrus hop flavor. The booze becomes more pronounced and maybe even a bit vodka-like as it warms.

Bottle shared by lagunitasfan at Woodshop 5.0 (2/20/10): 2008 vintage, Pours a transparent copper orange with a small, clingy-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet caramel and toffee with some light fruity complexity and a touch of citrusy hops. Starts with good fullness and caramel sweetness with some mild brown sugar and raisins before a warming bittersweet finish. An enjoyable barleywine.

1 L growler, courtesy of lagunitasfan before he stole daknoles seat and then mine. Pours clear and golden orange with no lasting head. Aroma is dense hoppy and dark fruity with a sweet malt presence. Sweet and fruity flavoured. Nice bitterness to a solid caramel malt base. Acidic to citric bitter finish.

10th rating of this beer. Thanks to therealbastard in the no for grabbin’ this bottle #2 of 200. Sharp and sweet on the nose, with a lil bit of hops. Amber in color. Taste is hot alcohol. Medicine then bitter. Warm and sweet on the end with booze.

Props to LagunitasFan for Sharing. Pours an orange wood-stained color. Nose is sweet, candyish like ribbon candy with hop resin, and orange blossom. Flavors are akin to burnt sugar with a resiny bitterness hop presence that turn floral after a while. Smooth mouthfeel with medium to low carbonation.

1L swingtop shared with myself. Pours a deep maroon color with bubbly egg shell colored head. Aroma is alcohol, raisin, and caramel. Very warming beer, sits well with the cold weather. Slight alcohol burn going down, with a strong malty/sugary finish. Seems like it needs some age, but overall decent beer.
