muzzlehatch (4429), Burlington, USA Jan 20, 2004 Sample at the brewpub. Opaque milky black, bit of a tan head. Chocolate-ash nose, milk chocolate beginning character, roasted coffee dominates the finish. Some vinous textures. Not bad. JoeMcPhee (3899), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Feb 18, 2008 Tap at the brewpub. Dark brown-black beer with a creamy dark brown head. Aroma is very chocolatey and roasty. Sweet dark maltiness as well. The falvour is quite roasty and bitter with a heavy dark chocolate flavour on the back. A soft coffeeish character as well. Great soft texture with a lingering chocolatey sweetness. Lovely stout. jjpm74 (3447), Connecticut, USA Feb 20, 2008 Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells of chocolate and roasted malt. Tastes of molasses, lots of roast and some decent bitterness. Finishes with some nice spice. Eyedrinkale (3115), Beer Town, New York, USA Nov 3, 2004 Pretty dark color wih some red around the edges. Durable dark tan head. Nice roasty malt aroma. Taste is a litttle tinny and medium bodied. Very lively mouthfeel. Equally bitter and sour. Oh yeah, some chocolate and coffee in there as well. My favorite of the Seven Barrel beers. egajdzis (3086), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 15, 2004 Poured opaque black with a small tan head and nice lacing on the glass. Some roasted and smoked malt around, also floral hops as well. Sweet, chocolate and roast taste, that was pleasantly hoppy. Full mouthfeel.
