The "Abiqua Creek" is born of the snow-covered peaks of the Cascade Mountains. This watershed is the lifeblood of Silverton and Seven Brides Brewing. Abiqua Black IPA blends this water with some of the Northwest’s best Crystal and Chocolate malts to create this wonder Black IPA. Using local Colombus, Fuggle and Nugget hops, this Black IPA will leave you wanting another.

Bottle:   Deep black, thin frothy tannish head, nice lacing.   Big rich malty nose, soft hop.   A little pith and citrus peel, slight dark chocolate.   Rich dark chocolate and heavy roasted malts on the tongue.   A touch of coffee beans too.   Falls off quickly, leaving a little acrid roastiness.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   A slight touch of pasture on the backside.   Could stand to be sweeter, less acrid too.   A little bit of a bruiser.

This is a really nice beer. The roasted flavors give it a slightly bitter finish that is complemented well by the hops. This would be a great session beer.

22oz bottle from "Lifesource" in Salem $4.99 Pours a mostly ebony colour with a lovely and large frothy/thick tan head. Aroma is very porter like with essence of french roast coffee and semi-dark chocolate only a small amount piney hop shows through. Again the taste is porter like with a burnt malt bitterness mixed with heavy cream and chocolate..again very little hopping to the fore ( though it is there). Palate is gorgeous..smooth.thick and silky. THis is a very nice beer but i do not think it a CDA..its a great porter though!

Tap at Baileys Taproom, PDX, 26/05/13. Light black with a thin tan head. Nose is light roast, hops, cocoa, bitter tropical notes. Taste comprises hops, pine, mineral bite, bitter grapefruit, roast bite. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, bitter notes, btter roast and hop bite in the finish. An OK CDA, heavily roasted, veering towards a porter.

Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours very dark brown/black with a dark tan head. Aromas of darker malt and chocolate. Near full bodied. Flavor is a good deal of mixed hop, dark malt and chocolate. Finishes bitter, with a burn which might be from all the hop. Can’t see it being chocolate. It’s an ale which did not skimp on ingredients, and it’s very tasty. It burps rather resin!

Dark brown, clear, beige head. Aroma of chocolaty malt, light resiny hops. Flavor of toasty malt, biscuit, cocoa, restrained piney-resiny hops. Somewhere between a black IPA and a porter, but tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber. Pours a dark brown color with a medium brown head. A sweet nose of roast and chocolates. A rich deep porter like flavor of chocolates, mint, some roast, cocoa, rich fruity hops. Low bitterness. Good.

Bottle served in a tulip. Pours black with a medium sized dense light brown head. Aroma of chocolate malt and both clean and earthy hops. Light sweet attack followed by roast and hop bitterness. Good body, thick-creamy texture, and a long roasty bitter finish. Well balanced and well made.
