COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A ruddy amber American Strong clocking in at 7.7% abv. Grapefruit and stone fruit hop aroma and character are balanced by a rich red malt backbone. A precise blend of 7 hops go into the brewing and dry hopping process including Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, Horizon, Palisade, Citra, Willamette, & Columbus. From Flannery OíConnor to Iron Maiden the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is embedded in American culture as a powerful harbinger of good fortune; what better name for our flagship ale?

*Pairs well with strong flavors found in roasted meats and root vegetables and works well with Double Gloucester or other moderately aged cheeses.

On tap, poured into a shaker. Grapefruit, floral, plum, and spruce aromas all come through in a wonderful blend. The beer is an oily and crystal clear, rich caramel red brown color with a light tan, dense head that retains a thick ring and near full island with an abundant lacing. The taste is a medium high sweet and medium bitter. The smooth beer has a soft fizziness and a full, juicy body with notes of citrus, toast, and caramel with a grassy and zesty finish and a bitter citrus rind. Itís crisp and dry with a mildly astringent citrus rind and grain aftertaste with a touch of cough drops and a burnt character.

Draft sample. Poured clear amber color with an average fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate complex hop and sweet malt aroma. Medium to abundant body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid drinkable beer.

Copper amber with a shy white head. Pretty neutral aromas of light oakiness and some kiwi hops. Medium body, grassy stonefruit hoppiness, malty without being boozy, clean greenish bitterness. Not bad, needs more definition IMHO.

Pours a ruby amber appearance. Little head. Lacing on the glass. Lots of grapefruit on the nose. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. More grapefruit on the taste. Nice sweet malty finish with the hops lingering in the background. Nice offering from in a can from the local brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at MadTree Birthday Bash. Pours a somewhat cloudy amber with a small off-white head. Nice and hoppy on the aroma - grassy, a little citrusy. Hints of spice and a good dose of caramel and amber malts. The flavor follows the same lines, with some earthiness. Light-medium bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and an earthy, fresh mouthfeel. Could use a little more malt backing, but this worked for me.

Taster on tap at Hopnosis 2013. Mostly hazy amber red color. Minimal white head, no lace. Citrusy, grapefruit american hop nose. Toasty, kind of spicy malt, a lot of caramel malt flavor. Aroma is much better than the taste. Moderate to bigger bitter, light sweet. Medium to bigger body. Lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Solid.

I found this beer on tap at The Daily Growler in columbus ohio. Seventh son of a seventh son pours a rich red copper hazy with a fine head of tan foam. Nose is pine needles, green and a bit of an astringent element that reminds me of a pine forest in spring, a little funky, if that makes any sense. Taste is more of the nose, pine forest, herbal green, mild funk, but weaker. itís almost diluted somehow. after the nose, this flavor is a bit underwhelming. the body is just a touch fizzy. this beer finishes cleanly.
