COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A ruddy amber American Strong clocking in at 7.7% abv. Grapefruit and stone fruit hop aroma and character are balanced by a rich red malt backbone. A precise blend of 7 hops go into the brewing and dry hopping process including Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, Horizon, Palisade, Citra, Willamette, & Columbus. From Flannery O’Connor to Iron Maiden the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is embedded in American culture as a powerful harbinger of good fortune; what better name for our flagship ale?

*Pairs well with strong flavors found in roasted meats and root vegetables and works well with Double Gloucester or other moderately aged cheeses.

Draft at MadTree Birthday Bash. Pours a somewhat cloudy amber with a small off-white head. Nice and hoppy on the aroma - grassy, a little citrusy. Hints of spice and a good dose of caramel and amber malts. The flavor follows the same lines, with some earthiness. Light-medium bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and an earthy, fresh mouthfeel. Could use a little more malt backing, but this worked for me.

Taster on tap at Hopnosis 2013. Mostly hazy amber red color. Minimal white head, no lace. Citrusy, grapefruit american hop nose. Toasty, kind of spicy malt, a lot of caramel malt flavor. Aroma is much better than the taste. Moderate to bigger bitter, light sweet. Medium to bigger body. Lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Solid.

I found this beer on tap at The Daily Growler in columbus ohio. Seventh son of a seventh son pours a rich red copper hazy with a fine head of tan foam. Nose is pine needles, green and a bit of an astringent element that reminds me of a pine forest in spring, a little funky, if that makes any sense. Taste is more of the nose, pine forest, herbal green, mild funk, but weaker. it’s almost diluted somehow. after the nose, this flavor is a bit underwhelming. the body is just a touch fizzy. this beer finishes cleanly.

Pint at Bodega after the Crew game on 7/20/13. Clear red pour with a huge beige head. Aroma of malt, blackberry, honey, fruity hops and grapefruit. Malty flavor with tropical fruit and honey character before a bitter grapefruit finish.

Sample at the tap room. This beer is a clear dark amber color with a thin light beige head that recedes quickly to a film. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, caramel and fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, ripe fruit and earthy hops. The finish is mildly bitter with an herbal hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap. Abv 7.7 %. Deep amber/ oak -hazy small head off-white citrus/grapefruit some caramel medium bitterness and finish Hides the alcohol well and has qualities of some old ales I have had. It is good but seems to be on the brink of being muddled and going completely off one way or the other. It is balanced but just so.

Poured on draft at Jackie-O’s. Pours a translucent copper with a white head of foam. The aroma is floral and fruity. Taste is surprisingly more bitter and in your face than the aroma lead me to believe. Long, dry finish with a full body.

Draught pint, Matt the Miller’s in Dublin. Caramel-ruby color; thin light-tan / eggshell head; medium lacing. Pineapple and grapefruit (they’re using something Lagunitas does frequently), caramel. Surprisingly strong floral hop kick. Dry finish. Medium to full, slick, substantial mouthfeel; lots of silky carbonation. Great first offering from a new brewery.
