COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A toasty brown ale with a round full mouthfeel and a pleasant 5.25% abv. Stone Fort offers accessible English ale character and a smooth blend of light roast coffee, cocoa, leather and biscuit flavors. The Old Stone fort overlooks the Tuscarawas river in Coshocton county and constructed in 1679 is thought to be Ohio’s oldest building; an appropriate name for a solid Brown ale with the hallmarks of this timeless style.

*Pairs well with smoked sausage and meats or grilled seafood; an aged gouda or crumbly Cheshire would make a fine cheese pairing

Growler from daily growler. Great hearty oat and earthy nose and mild head. Smooth and medium body. Great balance and not too sweet. Overall a pretty good oat brown ale ---Rated via my mouth

Sampler at taproom. Pours brown with a thin white head. Nice nutty notes on the nose. Lots of toffee and roasted nuts on the tongue. Finished clean. Nice example of style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

FROTHINGSLOSH (6717) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 27, 2016
Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark brown color with a medium sized creamy beige head that left decent lacing. The aroma was woody, very nutty and malty. The flavor was woody, nutty, malty, a bit toasty and had a hint of cocoa. Medium length finish. Medium body. Solid for style.

On tap at North Star Cafe. Brown with a thin lacing. Sweet malt and bready aromas. Flavors are sweet malt, grainy nutty tones, bread and cola. Thin, slightly watery mouthfeel. Not bad. A fair representation of an English ale.

Draft to taster at Seventh Son. Pours a deep mahogany color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have lightly roasted malts, some cocoa, caramel, some earthy notes, a splash of dark fruits, but like many browns this just doesn’t do much for me.

Drjohnrock (690) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 3, 2015
Draft at Woodlands Tavern, Columbus, Ohio, tasted on March 11, 2015. Dark cola hue, moderate sweet malty nose, sweet maltiness in the flavor but too much astringency, not well balanced. This one’s recipe needs some tweaking.
