COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A toasty brown ale with a round full mouthfeel and a pleasant 5.25% abv. Stone Fort offers accessible English ale character and a smooth blend of light roast coffee, cocoa, leather and biscuit flavors. The Old Stone fort overlooks the Tuscarawas river in Coshocton county and constructed in 1679 is thought to be Ohio’s oldest building; an appropriate name for a solid Brown ale with the hallmarks of this timeless style.

*Pairs well with smoked sausage and meats or grilled seafood; an aged gouda or crumbly Cheshire would make a fine cheese pairing

Growler from daily growler. Great hearty oat and earthy nose and mild head. Smooth and medium body. Great balance and not too sweet. Overall a pretty good oat brown ale ---Rated via my mouth

Draft. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average creamy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt, nuts and chocolate aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Solid balanced toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew.

On draft at the taproom. Deep brown - red pour. Roasted aroma with brown sugar. Tastes the same with nuts, malty, coffee. Decent overall though browns aren’t my fav.

Taster on tap during Ohio Brew Week. Labeled "Store Front", I assumed this was a typo. ABV listed as 5.25%. Mostly clear, very dark red color. In this dimly lit bar, looks kinda brown. Thin off-white head. Leaves good, thicker rows of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of chewy, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Big nutty flavor. Some chocolate, little dark fruit. Moderate bitter taste, moderate sweet. Solid, assertive kind of earthy hoppy brown ale.

Mahogany color with a wisp of brown foam on the surface. Sweet brown sugar and roasted grain nose. Sweet brown with some molasses, brown sugar, and enough toasted grains to not be too sweet. Some dark fruit notes. Some smoke comes out as it warms. It stands up well against my food truck rueben.

The low key garage that houses Seventh Son is home of a brewery that should be around for a while to come. Much like the new players in Cleveland and Cincinnati are shaking up the scene I am glad to see the same happening in the middle of the state. Based on this sample and others it won’t be long before they are a household name in central Ohio and beyond.

Aroma / Appearance - A chestnut brown base rests idly in the glass along with a creamy vanilla head. Acorns and chestnuts give it a definitive nutty feel along with light grade chocolate.

Flavor / Palate - Almonds, roses, and peanut butter mix the hop profile and malt base well. Like drinking short sips of Nutella it has a sweet edge that is not overdone. Sessionable and easy drinking this is an example of doing a beer by the book without having it feel bland and dull.

On tap at Wolf's Ridge Brewery. Very dark brown, almost coffee colored appearance. Thick light brown head. Mild foamy lacing. Smooth palate with a malty finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample at the tap room. Pours dark brown with ruby highlights around the edges. Medium light tan head that dissipates gradually to a wispy film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Light-bodied with a roasty character and flavors of bready malt, coffee and a touch of chocolate. The finish is mildly bitter with a coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at Seventh Son on 5/17/13. Clear reddish brown pour with a medium beige head. Aroma of malt, nuts and some roast. Malty and caramelly flavor with some nuttiness before a creamy finish. Pretty solid brown ale and probably my favorite of theirs I tried this day.
