Shade Mountain Vineyards Bad Moose Mead

Sample at the State College, PA Tasting Room. Medicinal, flowery nose. Pungent and of cleaning solution, lightly. Pours a pale, clear gold, vibrant. Flavor is coarse, spicy and lightly sweet. A decent balance of sugar and alcohol. Mid-body. The flavor though, just isn’t that desirable. It’s a bit harsh, rotten-like, and phenolic. There’s some decent flower and plant flourishes, but they generally seem quashed by the biting edge.
