Nut brown. Sweet with soft mouthfeel and low bitterness and rather light body. Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 2, 2001 Updated: Jul 16, 2005A pioneering product back in the day, and it was pretty good when they were still in East Vancouver. After the move to Delta, the beer became more bland, but worse the yeast really became dominant in all their beers. Now the beer is made in Vernon at Okanagan Spring. The yeast is still strong, the flavour still simple, but it’s also still a drinkable brew.

Dull chestnut colour. Aroma is very nutty with hints of caramel with faint smokey, dusty notes. Nutty, spicy palate is a little watery. tiggmtl (4178), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 11, 2006 Huge butterscotch aroma with some caramel sweetness. Clear deep brown coloured body topped by a wisp of white head that recedes to ring. Butterscotch is overwhelming in the flavour also with very little else to be found. Slick texture to the light watery body with moderate carbonation. Pretty much undrinkable - bad keg? Bad lines? Sampled on tap at the Lennox. JoeMcPhee (3899), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 2, 2004 Updated: Apr 3, 2005Rerate: 341 ml bottle. Now called Coastal Cream Ale. Dark amber colour, thin tan head. Malty, caramel aroma, pale malt. Flavour is pretty typical, pale malt, some graininess, a hint of nuttiness. Light bitterness, but no real hop character. Pretty bland.
Had this on tap and it was gross. Dark amber colour, rocky off-white head. Some citrus aroma. Flavour is very thin, malt prominent, but with a metallic flavour, and notes of wet cardboard. Pretty shitty. May rerate from a bottle another time.

HogTownHarry (3361), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Dec 18, 2007 Can (500ml). Shared by GregClow with blankboy and tupalev - and me. Clear light copper, smallish diminishing head. Bleh aroma - hint of nutshell bitterness, with some adjuncts and staleness. Taste - not much better, bland, dead plastic and stale this that and the other. Still, slick, watery body - not a lot of fun on the tongue.
