COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This harvest-gold Pale Ale showcases New Zealand’s classic Green Bullet and wonderful new Kohatu hops. The resinous characteristics of the New Zealand hops intertwine with hints of caramel from Fawcett’s Pale Crystal and Weyermann Caramunich malts. The ale’s juicy flavours come from Fawcett’s Maris-Otter malt, which is floor-malted in accordance with centuries old tradition. Finer bubbles are produced with the natural carbonation process of this unfiltered and unpasteurised ale, giving Dogberry a wonderful soft mouth feel. Further fruit characteristics arrive and round off this ale with the use of a classic British ale yeast.

On tap @ Shakespears’, Auckland. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma has some sweetish grain, some citrus. Hazy, dark yellow coloured beer with a thin, off-white head. The taste is slightly flowery, bit citric, has hints of butter.

On tap at the brewpub. Served an amber color with a decent head that faded to bits of lacing. Aroma of hops, bit of malt sweetness and grain. taste of citrus with an easy malt sweetness and a bit of grain. Nice bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Medium body, crisp, quite smooth and refreshing. Easy drinker, went well with a rainy afternoon in Auckland.

Rather surprisingly delicious! Comes across with a slightly sweet floral flavour but well balanced with hops and decent body for pale ale. Rather refreshing not to have an over hoped pale ale and not bad at 5.3%. One beer wasn’t enough .. it leaves you wanting the next. PS If your drinking this at the Shakespeare Tavern don’t be put off by the downstairs public bar - just make sure to head straight upstairs. They serve food too at very decent prices and very friendly service. Most beers on tap are Monteiths.

Yum! Good beer! Served a bit cold for me in a chilled mug with a smallish off white head that fades to an island and ring after a bit and loads of fine lace. Color is a very slightly hazy amber with plenty of bubble trails. Aroma is malt, hop, caramel, toffee, grain, spice. Flavor’s much like nose with excellent balance betwixt mild sweetness, just dominant enough hop bitter, and carbonic tang. Body is a bit chewy and carbonation; both are spot on. Finish is like flavor, longish, and leaves me with a yearning for more. Great, fresh pale ale!
