COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our first brew, #4 American Brown Ale, is due to arrive in pubs in late January. This hoppy, mahogany-coloured beer isnít your grandpaís brown ale. #4 uses primarily American hops for a generous citrus hit and blends it with the rich, caramel tones of dark malt. Itís smooth, itís surprising, and itís seriously sessionable.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 2014. Clear russet colour lasting dark beige head. American hop aroma. Some grapefruit. Some sweetness from the malt too. One of my favourite styles. Good bitterness.

Cask (handpump) @ EBF14 2013, 14th Egham Beer Festival, Egham United Services Club (EUSC), 111 Spring Rise, Egham, Surrey, England TW20 9PE.

Clear medium to dark red brown color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramle, sweet malt, light roasted. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration, nutty, caramel, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130328]

Cask at Wandsworth London Beer Festival on 6 July 2013. Poured a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of caramel and dark malt. Grainy flavours with hints of prunes and toffee. Slightly light palate with bitter burnt malt notes.

Scopey (6651) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 2, 2013
Gravity Dispense at Beer Rebellion, Crystal Palace. It pours deep red-brown with no head. The nose is earthy, toast, leather, caramel and Jamaican Ginger cake. The taste is earth, wood, leather, varnish, coffee and decent bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and low/no carbonation. Decent, just a shame about the condition.

Gravity @ Beer Rebellion. Deep brown, pretty flat pour. The nose is toast, pain au c go collate, caramel and toffee, leaf pile. The taste is light toffee and cocoa, forest fruits, toasted grain, a touch of grapefruit. Really flat and lacks conditions. Iíll blame that on Beer Rebellion. Overall, Iíd love to try this on cask proper.

Very bready and sweet aroma, sweet taste, toffee and malt, a little welcome bitterness too. Slightly soapy with an overwhiff of harsh alcohol. Quite nice, a rounded sweet taste but a faint linger of baking soda, perhaps not quite the finished article.

Cask at the Craft Beer Co. Clerkenwell - London. Pours clear, red-brown with a frothy, white foam head. Toasty cocoa in the nose, some brown bread. Light to medium sweet flavor with chocolatey malts, toasty pine, light instant coffee. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent condition. Clean finish with toasted sugars, faint earthy bitterness, toasty chocolate, brown bread. A nice, drinkable brown ale with some pleasant nuance.

Taste comprises dark toffee, earthy notes, burnt sugar, mollasses, background hops, quite a malty beast. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, light burnt notes in the dry finish. An OK first offering.
