This thick oatmeal stout is pitch black and loaded with 10 different malts. Generous amounts of oats give this beer a silky mouthfeel, while the aromatic and dark malts impart flavors of chocolate, nuts, and slight cherry and oak.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

wayyyy too much coffee and roasted character with hardly any balance. Just rough and raw. Blah. Again for whatever reasons the beers seem to tame after the first couple of sips. Still overall not very good at all.

On tap at Dongping Rd as part of a tasting flight. Pours black brown with a dissipating white head. Aroma of roasted liquorice and chocolate. Sweet finish.

Cloudy, chalky brown color. White head and lacing. Raunchy malt character. Stinky and delicious. Roasted bitter malt taste. Better than average but the body is a bit thin.

Tap at the brewery. I suspect there may be some batch to batch variation on this brew. My sample was very thin looking- plenty of light made it through this beer giving it a thin, black/brown appearance. The taste was very mild for a stout. There were some hints of roasted malt. Low bitterness. OK but not great.

Draught. Pours almost black, with a beige head. Roasted, spicy aroma, coffee, caramel, chocolate, ash, licorice. Off-dry, medium body and bitterness, creamy CO2. Roasted taste, chocolate, licorice, coffee, toffee, caramel. Very smooth and balanced. Nice. (2013-03-10)

looked very promising - dark opaque color, soft tan head. nose of nuts and coffee. flavor is disappointing. monotonous and no depth. could udr more hops and a stronger roast
