Theydon_Bois (14964) - Tourist Town (West), Berkshire, - FEB 2, 2013
Bottle at home, thanks to an IP trade with Tomer, 02/02/13. Light black with a tan head that thinned to a swirl atop and edgeing. Nose carries roast malts, oats a la chocolate in porridge, molasses, hint of coffee. Taste comprises roast malts, chocolate, molasses. Medium bodied, carbonation is a little over cooked but not detracting too much from this beer, dry finish. Solid enough stout !

12 oz. bottle from DSG. Thanks Barak! It pours a very dark brown/black color with tan head that disappears quickly. The aroma is full with chocolate syrup and cocoa powder. Pretty sweet and simple. The flavor is on the sour side with some copper, roast and dirt. Astringent in the palate. Sour finish.

Really thin. No head. Flat. Not sure what to make of this. Not too good. Tasted at my variants themed tasting. Thx Jandd1983.

Sampled at gregwilson’s tasting. Dark brown. No foam. Ok, this is odd. Earth and some kind of funkiness. Something like chocolate and syrup. Chicory. Yep, odd.

Bottle thanks to Kerenmk. Pours inky black with large spongy beige head, caramelized malt aroma, high carbonation, slightly tart roasted malt taste, thick texture, long burnt tasting finish. A bit too much roasted.

Bottle [from Euro Swap 2015-2 thanks to Tomer] @ home. Opaque dark brown to black color, medium sized light brown head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts, lightly a sweet hint. Taste malts, brown malts, bitter. Maybe it’s me but I don’t really get anything else. Decent body and carbonation. Solid stout.

It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel and some bread. The taste was similar to the aroma with more roasted malts, chocolate, caramel and bread. Decent.

Many thanks to DSG for this bottle! Smooth fresh nose, slightly rosy-floral. The beer starts fresh floral, nice oat aroma, fresh and smooth with lots of smooth oats. Mineraly-salty hints, fresh, smooth. Great malty-smooth aftertaste. Hints of dry roast, smooth!

In short: watery oatmeal stout.
Pours black with little tan head. Short head retention, some lacing. Roasty, liquorice, caramel, nose. Light body, average carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is roasty, cocoa, sweet caramel. A bit dry and light body for an oatmeal stout.
