Pale in colour with a citrussy hop character, underpinned by the typical Sharp’s fruity character. Refreshingly crisp, light mouthfeel - very drinkable.

Handpull at The George (Strand). Slightly hazy brassy gold with minimal white head. Mild aroma, floral, bit of pear and grain, no alcohol - tastes the same. Watery, still, a bit sweet with no linger. Light.

Cask at the Price Bonaparte, W2. I’ve never been overly impressed by Sharp’s beers, finding the increasingly ubiquitous Doom Bar pretty dull. This was however a bit better, amber in colour, soft malt background and then a reasonable amount of fruity hop character. Finish is a bit brief.

Chelmsford Beer Festival. Hazy gold beer, good cream coloured head. Smooth palate, a little soft and creamy. Very mild orange - lemon citrus in distinctly honey toned soft malt. Mild minerals. Easy going and pretty drinkable.

Medium creamy offwhite head. Clear yellow body. Floral mango and pineapple aroma with resiny citric notes. Dry-sweet floral minty taste with mango and orange notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish honey and lime aftertaste with spicy notes. Slightly watery. Aftertaste is a bit faint. But a lovely beer otherwise. (0.25l cask, The Feathers, Westminster, London.)

Pint from cask. Poured quite a translucent pale gold with a moderate creamy head. Gentle but agreeable aroma of nothing-in-particular. Crisp to taste, and very hoppy. Almost a soapy or washing-up liquid aftertaste, but in a pleasant, experience-enhancing way. Good offering in the classic IPA style.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2011 (Cask @ The Coopers Arms. Rochester) I. A hoppy kiss of hops is on first sip . Both my mind & my palate were surprised and welcomed by this break from the monotomy . Good aromatic ’Mid-Atlantic pale ale’
