3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Quilon. Oh no Rick Stein beer! Do I need to start quoting poetry in a pretentious fashion? Or can I just have a few of these beers and get smashed? Light pale ale in colour. Restrained palate and smells, delicate almost spicy hops, almost Belgian in taste, with a very refined hint of ginger in the aftertaste. Not an assault on the palate like Ginger Marble or similar, much more subtle. Served with chicken and masala dosa, this was brilliant with the food. May have been a little light on its own.

330ml Bottle: BBD 18 Nov 2013. Poured at home on 6 Sep 2013.
A lot better than I thought it would be once I saw it was ’naturally flavoured with fresh ginger’.
Lager like in looks, light and golden with a thin white covering.
The aroma had a mini ginger note or two, but not enough to upset me (I’m not a ginger beer sort of guy).
The taste also had hints of ginger, again not enough to ruin the beer. There were citrus flavours helping to balance out the traces of ginger and I found the beer both refreshing and enjoyable. I think it would go well with a decent curry.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is floral fruity with only a very subtle or weak scent of ginger. The appearance is cloudy straw golden, frothy white head. Slightly carbonated but very subtle once again. The texture on the palate is light, quite a thin taste but with an abrupt and sudden departure. Overall incredibly enjoyable and palatable beer in memory of Rick Stein’s little wonderful Chalky dog.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2013 As tasteless an attempt at a ginger-based beer as I?ve come across. Crabbie?s tastes like nectar in comparison.

Piana srednia
