Bottle conditioned;
Sharp's has launched a new beer in partnership with Rick Stein. The beer is named "Chalky's Bite" in tribute to Rick's faithful canine friend. Chalky's Bite is a very special beer with a brewing and maturation process of over four months. The beer is triple fermented using both the Sharp's yeast strain and a special Belgian strain and is uniquely flavoured with wild Cornish fennel.

Bottle from Waitrose, Stevenage. Golden with next to no head. Strong enough, although its local flavouring gives it s strawberry-like aroma and taste, and the ale has an associated sweetness throughout its character. Fairly active in the palate.

Bottle, gentle sweetness with hints of candy sugar, faint honey and spice notes. Vaguely reminiscent of a Ttripel.

Pours a dark gold colour with a thin white head, fruit malt aroma, taste is light bitterness with some sweetness coming through, with a dry fruity finish.

Thanks to Bill, Sharps brewery.
330 ml bottle

Light spice aroma with fresh zesty pine and lime, like a spicy citrus lager with honey and dusty cheese. Colour is very light golden straw. Flavour is very honey like, rich and sweet with subtle spice. That’s it really. Ok.

Bottle. Hazy amber with off white head. Fennel aroma for sure. Also tangerine and powdered sugar (?). Yeasty as well. Flavour is sweet and fruity with tangerine notes, fennel and a spicy, bitter finish. Very nice and refreshing.

330ml bottle from the brewery online shop. Pours clear gold, thick white head. Floral and citrus hop aromas, light sweetness. Get a touch of fennel/anise, but if I wasn’t looking for it, not sure I’d have spotted it. Good bitter taste, and a more grassy herbal bitterness. Different, enjoyed this.

330ml bottle. 6.8%. Pours golden with 2 finger head which vanishes to nothing. Beautiful herbal fennel aroma, great balance of sweet herbal, honey, vanilla flavours matched by a balanced hoppiness. Strong carbination on the tongue and a lasting hop after taste which lingers. A Classic!

Troppo maltata e dolce per una birra inglese. Non sono riuscito a distinguere nettamente l’aroma di finocchio, ma in compenso è percettibile una nota erbacea che la rende un po’ più complessa. Risultato discreto e apprezzabile.

6.8% gold colour with a thin head, melon and apple aroma, not unlike Duvel in taste.

Bottle at home. Poured golden with white head. Very reminiscent of Belgian blond beers (small print says this - but hard to see w/o glasses). Very yeasty - couldn’t discern the fennel.
