500ml bottle. Deep copper colour. Plenty of toasted nuts and a little caramel, with a subdued bitterness to finish. Very easy drinking and perfectly pleasant, though nothing compared to the cask version.

500ml bottle. Clear dark copper colour, pretty flat with very little head. Slight caramel aroma, taste is fruit, caramel and some spice. Cask I’d better

Aroma very malty, caramel and bready. Also a bit of fizz/tinnyness to it. The appearance is a fairly nice amber bitter. Gentle carbonation, very thin off-white head which fizzles out quickly even when doing a sharp pour. The taste is also malty. Lots of bread and some caramel notes. Slightly floral/herbal in taste as well. Very thin-bodied, tastes almost watered down. The carbonation doesn’t bounce off the tongue, in fact it feels a little flat. There is barely any finish at all; very faint taste of English hops at the back end.

500 ml bottle from the corner Tesco, 6/3/16. Was basically the only thing there I hadn’t ticked. Tickers gotta tick. Caramel color, fizzy off white head. Doughy malts and spice. Okay flavor. Finishes with a decent bitterness. Fizzy. Thin. Okay.

Dec. ’15. A 0.5 l bottle from a local Tommy supermarket. It poured a clear brown body with tiny or no head. Weak toast, brown sugar and caramel aroma. Lightly bitter flavor, watered down caramel and biscuit notes, while coarse carbonation helped the bitterness to show up actually. Very thin in body with mineral water mouthfeel - empty and coarse. What is this? Just like the case with some well rated Christmas beers that were bland and plainly bad, do they export only crappy batches here or everybody else is crazy?

Served in a snifter from a 500ml bottle. Pours clear amber with a thin off-white fast diminishing head. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, bread and red fruits. Taste is caramel, roasted malts, red fruits with a smooth subtle bitter finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Very smooth and extremely balanced amber ale, would be great as a session ale.

Caramel and citrus aroma
Subtly roasted flavour
Citric finish with a hint of caramel

A good amber beer.

Bottle at family gathering (not my first!). Pours brown amber with thin head. Aroma predominately malty with some sweet caramel. Pretty bland, especially compared to the great deep salty notes that I remember from a cask pint in Cornwall the first time I tried this many years ago.

Pours a clear amber color, topped with a minimal and non-lasting white head. Mild biscuity aroma with a bit of caramel presence. Sweet with caramel notes, finishes with decent bittery feel. Light. Ok.
