probstblueribbon (3072) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 2, 2012
500 ml bottle shared by Lubiere (merci!), served cold in a tulip glass. 24SE11.

App.: Dirty, cloudy deep amber with an off-white rim. Aroma: Really odd, dirty, earthy, slight chemical note, some sulphur notes, borderline shit note, very oxidized fruit, wet ash, mainly gross. Palate: Medium body, nearly flat. Flav.: Some brown sugar, fruits, oxidized fruits, still a bit dirty, cardboard, wet ashes, a slightly spicy note; dry with minimal bitterness and a somewhat watery finish.

Doomed for sure.

A decent British real ale. Taste dominated by the malts, leaves a bready taste. Tried this with Paul on the boat on the Thames (11-9-11)

Clear brown, very few bubbles, long white head. Light aroma, caramel. Lacking in flavour, bit of spice, slight peppery aftertaste. Thin palate. Meh.

ALLOVATE (2475) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - OCT 13, 2011
Bright, tawny copper with just a few bubbles adhered to the side of the glass, not much life otherwise. A thin, depleting head of white atop manages to just hold on for the length. Strong, sweet caramel nose with hints of praline, candied nuts, marzipan, burnt green timber and dust. Sweet in the mouth too, almost teeth rattling. The body light, but cloying. So different from casked Doom bar, it’s uncanny. Weedy, swampy bitterness, mild earthy back end, drops off short with just a sugary caramel linger. Quite woody with a truckload of unsalted nuts showing, but all fails to balance the caramel, toffee tones. Too sweet for my palate. (50cL, no date stamp, Thirsty Camel, Butler)

sm89walt (1780) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - OCT 10, 2011
500ml bottle. Poured a clear copper-amber colour with a lasting, lacing white head. Slightly biscuity and toasty but otherwise dominated by a sweet pasteurised maltiness. Some grain at the back. Light to medium body, short bitterness, soft to medium carbonation. A bit thin, bland and non-eventful.

Lubiere (10485) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 24, 2011
A lightly hazed amber ale with a thick mocha head. In aroma, a grassy and fruity ester, musty and nutty, surrenated hops. In mouth, an oxidized sweet malt with light acid notes, BB June 2010. Tasted with Probstk.

Despite a lack of aroma this was a nice beer, caramel, sweet malts with a spicy hoppiness.
