Excellent Cornish beer, great all year round.
Looks like a classic British ale, slight caramel flavour

Caramel, fruits and some grains in the aroma. Amber with a off-white head. Medium sweet and medium bitter. Light to medium body with a soft carbonation. Overall a nicely flavored bitter, but a bit thin and watery.

On cask @ JDK Eight Bells, Dover - UK. Color: clear brown beer with no carbonation and small white foam. Smell: malty domination with some caramel notes. Taste: good balance of malt not really expressive. Aftertaste: caramel and bread notes.

Cask. Amber color, zero head/lace. Barely any aroma, maybe some sweet malts and apples? Dunno, it's boring and bland. Kinda dig the lack of carb honestly. But this defines "forgettable".

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
On cask at Maidenhead Inn (JDW), Basingstoke. I got this "free" with a meal, it’s brown has a weird tang a la Pedigree. Why on earth this gets all over the country beats me. Average would be a complement.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap at Brighton pub.
Pours a clear brown with a weak head. Rather insignificant aroma and taste. Anonym men god.

A little watery. This brew although flavoursome has no body. Probably all right for a session

Oh how things change! I used to consider this one of my favourite beers and living in Cornwall it has always been very easy to find in pubs over the past 10 years or so. Pints of it can vary from pretty decent to terrible. I had a pint last week for the first time in ages and I was pretty underwhelmed. Sure it is a decent enough bitter, caramel malt and is very smooth and easy drinking, a pretty decent session ale but it isn’t anything overly exciting. Definitely above average but pretty one dimensional.
