COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned; Special - brewed once a year but recipe may change from year to year. NOTE: The recipe remained the same, using Hallertauer Brewer’s Gold hops, for the first three years (to 2009). Subsequent years have used a different recipe. PLEASE make sure you note the year and refer to it in your reviews.

Single Brew Reserve is a showcase for the noblest of hops, the Czech Saaz. Whole cone Saaz, fresh from the harvest are used to dry hop the beer during maturation.
Mid golden in colour, this ale has a fresh, herbal lemon aroma. In the mouth, light barley sugars give way to a perfumed bitterness. The finish is dry, clean and exquisitely appetising.

2011 bottle from the Utobeer stall in Borough Market. Pours light golden amber with a creamy/frothy white head. Aroma is lightly citrus over some light caramel. Or it might be expressed as sharply fruity with warm malt. Good aroma. Med body. Flavor is indeed something herby with citrus. It is bitter, the malt is rather light. It’s finishing rather "genteelly" hoppy. Almost delicate. Rare for such a low ABV ale to qualify as a sipper. I’m thinking it could substitute for sherry.

Bottle 500ml.

Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, hay - grass, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, fruity, grass - hay. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, grassy, fruity, fresh. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20121208]

500ml bottle, 2011 vintage, from Romsey Beer Emporium. My 500th Golden/Blond rating.

A fairly explosive opening resulting in half a glass of clear dark straw coloured beering and the rest full of a billowing cream head; the aroma is fresh and the lemony herbalness I associate with Saaz; inthe mouth there are light malts giving a slightly caramelised sweetness; and a fragrant, floral, citrus, perfume that provides a pleasing finish. Rather good.

2011 bottle - Not a great beer, it poured an amber orange with no head and virtually no carbonation. The beer smelled of honey and crunchy nut cornflakes. The taste was sweet and flat. I hope this was an odd bottle as there was nothing in this beer which i would want to try again.

Bottle (2011 vintage) at the Half Moon, Windlesham - 22/08/12. Pale golden with a thick finger and more of bubbly white head. Malts, fruity hops, grain and a pinch of spice on the nose. Tastes as nose with a little honey. Medium bodied with slightly prickly carbonation and a bitter dry but sharp finish.

Bottled, 500ml at A Bottle Bar, Weston Super Mud. Gazed orange amber with slight head. Orange, fruity, malty flavours, nicely zesty and fresh, hints of oaty grain. Pretty reasonable.

[bottle at EBBC12][2011 vintage] Hazy orange pour, aroma of sweet barley sugar and grassy hops. Tasted similar - unerringly like a honey throat lozenge. Despite that, it was pretty enjoyable stuff [18052012]

2011 Reserve at #EBBC12, thanks Sharps! Pale amber, floral and clean malt aroma, spritzy carbonation, dry bitter finish.

Mid orange to light brown coloured beer, slightly hazy, with a weak white head. An immediate spicy, fruity nose. Coriander, ginger and a touch of nutmeg, then a dried fruit, raisin-like aroma, followed up with just a hint of malt, smells like a fresh baked fruit cake! Dry on the mouth, bitter taste, there is the spice element again, but less intense, cinnamon this time stands out. Then there is a malty flavour thats paired with a slightly sweet fruity taste, bananas, raisins and glacé cherries! Hints of grassy hop in the finish.
