Cask in the wenlock arms. Alround rating: Chocolate malts, caramel, thin grassy bittering hop, some pepperyness. Not really what i was expecting, but still fairly drinkable stuff.

A Mes rate. Cask handpull at the Market Porter.
This is an excellent mild. Quite light in colour with a good off white head and plenty of condition. Big roasted coffee beans and chocolate with hints of plums and molasses. Faint hints of sourness are nothing short of superb and give it a perfect hit of brightness to balance out all the tasty dark stuff. Bags of taste and plenty of depth for a mild. As drinkable as it should be but with more character than most milds. Rich and tasty finish with great length and lovely developing chocolate. Balanced and elegant and adorable. Love it.

Cask handpull, The Crown, Nuneaton. Dark ruby with murky edges and plenty of lace. Flemish caramel and sour apple fruit aroma with a good musky hop note and a hint of strawberry jam as it warms. Apple fruit upfront, tang of sour, dusty choc, bit of mushy biscuit, maybe wheat in the finish. Odd gingery spice that could be the gorse. Tired and odd, but OK.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 18/03/09. According to the pump clip, this is part of a seasonal series and contains gorse. Ruby red in colour with a slight, off white head. Slight aroma of red fruit and caramel. Flavour also began with some sweetness, plenty of fruit and a chewy herbal edge, which no doubt was the gorse. Ok as a one-off.
