Named after one of the famous ’front four’ trails on Mt. Mansfield, this I.P.A. is brewed in the English tradition of pale ales shipped from Britain, around Africa, to India. Those ales contained extra hops and a higher alcohol percentage, which both served as natural preservatives. This ale holds true to those original, defining characteristics. Formerly "National IPA".

Bottle. Pours a clear copper body with a large foamy beige head that had very good retention and left some sticky lacing. The nose is just lightly hoppy with some citrusy notes, and the malt character is coming through as being heavy on the crystal malt. A little caramel, but mostly crystal, and I don’t care for that in an IPA. The flavor is even heavier on the crystal malt than I thought it would be. Just a very light citrusy hop note makes it past all the sugary crystal malt. Which leads into the body being overly heavy and sticky with a residual sweetness that lingers on well past any hop bitterness. Overall not what I want in an IPA. Disappointing.

Bottle complements of Mark. Nice unfiltered complexion. Flavor has grapefruit and citrus with balanced hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy poor medium head. Decent lacing. Fruity aroma with some hops coming through. Taste of orange, grapefruit and grass. Hops come out on top. Decent but not the best.

Pours a nice amber color two finger head with heavy lacing. Hoppy grapefrit nose to it. Strong hops favor to this beer which tends to overwhelm the other flavors that are hidden suh as the nice citrus complexity. Worth a try if you’re a hophead. Which I am.

Belle couleur orangée. On perçoit des dépôts dans le liquide également. Nez très puissant de houblons, de lime et de citron. En bouche, la puissance des houblons est toujours là. Wow! Long en bouche, plein d’amertume. Ce que je souhaite d’une bonne IPA robuste. Un coup de coeur! Cheers!

Bottled June 13, 2013.
Appearance: Hazy amber body with a huge light tan head. The head is dense and dissipates unevenly and very slowly, creating caverns through it. Too much head though, it’s 75% of the pour.
Aroma: Sweet citrus is noticed instantly, oranges and grapefruit with mango and pineapple. with a very slight floral and pine presence.
Taste: The flavor isn’t as fruity as the aroma, in-fact caramel and toasted malts are the prominent flavor here with very low bitterness with hints of floral and grapefruit notes towards the finish.
Palate: Medium bodied with low to moderate carbonation.
Overall: The aroma hinted at a pretty good IPA, but unfortunately the flavor didn’t translate properly. This is decent at best, even for the price.

Aroma: soapy hop feel with caramel, candy sweetness. Alcohol well covered. 7-
Look: lasting plus sized cap , white creamy in appearance. Golden with note of amber base. Presentable lace shown. 4-
Taste: medium bodied. Gentle alcohol warmth with solid hop side, Predictable yet well brewed. Give credit when given. Nice session lighter IPA.

Nothing really special about this beer. Typical run of the mill Ipa with some hop aroma and hop taste. Lots of sediment throughout the beer too. Not sure if I had a weird bottle or If its supposed to be that way but there sure was a lot of stuff floating around in the there but I still drank it lol.

12 oz bottle purchased at The Craft Beer Outlet in Philly on June 20, 2013. Honey amber, small head. Dry grapefruit aroma, well hopped. The taste is a bit the same, a little sour but less tasty, slightly bitter. Very standard as IPA!
