Named after one of the famous ’front four’ trails on Mt. Mansfield, this I.P.A. is brewed in the English tradition of pale ales shipped from Britain, around Africa, to India. Those ales contained extra hops and a higher alcohol percentage, which both served as natural preservatives. This ale holds true to those original, defining characteristics. Formerly "National IPA".

12oz bottle from Julios. Cloudy orange pour with very little head. Pretty average IPA true to the style. Much better than the other Shed beer I tasted recently.

Sixer picked by the wife at Beer Universe, Saugerties. Consumed straight from the bottle while priming the walls of the upstairs landing. Whisper nose of compressed hop. Flat tangy body is low in intensity. Metallic and a bit lusty. Body is meh. Finish is lightly hoppy but lackluster. Moo!

12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of some floral and lightly citrusy hops, plus some caramel and pale malts. Flavor the same. Average texture. A random IPA.

A touch of hop aroma and some candied malts. Strangely phenolic. Bright amber orange color. Oft-bitter taste, but mainly starchy malt flavor. Watery body, has dull bite and no zest. A real disappointment, like OC mailed in in for contract. Sad fate for a famed brewpub.

Earthy citrus & hay aroma. Pours cloudy orange with small head that is quick to dissipate. Fairly good IPA, with a nice hop profile. Easy to drink and a pretty good IPA overall.

Pours a deep orange ochre color with a two finger eggshell head that slaces nicely. On the nose there is a severe lack of hops... but rather just a subtle whiff of bready malts....hmmmm fresh bottle as well. Damn I wanted to like this beer, I used to pass through the shed when we visited old friends in VT. This beer is just a malty bomb with a touch of bitterness that takes over the finish. Is it horrible no is it a passable IPA no.

On tap at Otter Creek. Moderate citrus and floral hop aroma. Cloudy orange color with a small white head. Moderate floral bitterness beginning that fades in the finish.

Otter Creek Brewery: Pours a golden color with a nice creamy white head. Aroma is of citrusy hops. Taste is much the same although I can say that I didn’t find the flavour profile to be particularly appealing. It didn’t seem to be exactly well-balanced. I would drink more than the sample I had, but not enough, yeah.

On draft. Dark golden color with a medium head. Citrus notes. Not to heavy but just enough bitterness. Nice.
