COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after one of the famous ’front four’ trails on Mt. Mansfield, this I.P.A. is brewed in the English tradition of pale ales shipped from Britain, around Africa, to India. Those ales contained extra hops and a higher alcohol percentage, which both served as natural preservatives. This ale holds true to those original, defining characteristics. Formerly "National IPA".

Middle of the road IPA for me.. Lots of bitterness - not too too much more. Not bad but alittle too bitter & not well rounded enough.

6-pack caché entre 2 lots de Bud dans un Sunoco du Vermont. À mi-chemin entre une ipa et une dia. Bien houblonné, amertume moyenne, goût sucré. Pas pire.

Bottled. A golden beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of hops, grass, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, hops, straw, and pine needles, leading to a bitter finish.

Good pine aroma and flavor, somewhat bitter with a bit of caramel background. Good beer.

Pours a three finger off-white head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Hazy amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Light grapefruit hop nose, flavor is grapefruit hops and some caramel malt starts to balance. Not nearly as hoppy as their Profanity ale. Gift.

Right side of the neck of the bottle reads: 021715, I think that’s born on. This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a hazy golden orange with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a good minute. Light stringy lacing sticks and slides into the beer. The smell takes a lemon zest to cross over a delicate grassy sweetness. Light caramel maltiness balances nicely. The taste has a good balance of sweet to bitter to zest. There’s a nice sweet to zesty citrus aftertaste but no finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation runs moderately with a good bitterness pounding appropriately. Overall, as an EIPA, its a bit different as the English side of the aroma doesn’t really show, but hey, I’m thinking more AIPA fans might like this one.

12 ounce bottle, 4/13/15. Hazy amber, medium sized foamy off-white head. Good retention. Aroma of minty, herbal hops, eucalyptus, caramel malt. The taste is citrus hops, tea, minty notes, eucalytus, caramel, candied citrus. Medium bodied, strong lingering bitterness, a bit medicinal. Definitely an odd one. 800th IPA rating!

Mild citrus and pine aroma. Hazy burnt orange colored body with a thin white bubbly head. Medium bitterness with a balanced smooth malt taste. Mild sweetness in the background.

I had it straight from the bottle. The bottle looked pretty sharp. It had a nice hop aroma and taste. The flavor and mouth feel were nice and full. It distinguished itself from your everyday IPA.

Bottle from Epsom Circle Market, Epsom NH. Aroma is herbs, piney hops with hint of natural gas smell and late fruit. Appearance on first pour is clear golden yellow pour with significant sparkling, one finger-width frothy-creamy head wiht good retention and nice lacing. Second pour yielded cloudiness from sediment (it is unfiltered, after all). Taste is mildly sweet fruity start and moderately bitter end. Palate is light-bodied with thin texture, pretty flat in terms of carbonation (how can this be with that much sparkle?) and faint lingering bitter finish. Overall, a nice-looking beer with somewhat interesting though not entirely pleasant aroma, average taste and forgettable palate.
