An English-style strong ale. This brown ale has great malt depth and drinks like a session beer.

It poured a dark brown and gave the same color body. A light yet creamy, half inch, white foamy head lasted for about a minute before gently dieing into the body. Some lacing lightly speckled the sides of the glass. The smell had robust coffee flavorings up front combined nicely with some caramels and malts. Some light coffee came out as the beer warmed. The taste took these flavorings and added a nice warming sweetness. The palate was about a medium with a nice smoothness all around. A semi-dry aftertaste came out just a bit. This was very drinkable. Overall, this was pretty good.

Bottle. Pours a murky brown with a thin tan head. There’s a bit of a phenolic aroma with is off putting. Not much to the flavor, its sweet and malty up front with nothing at the finish. Brown’s are one of my favorite styles and this is just okay. I wouldn’t purchase it again but would drink it if offered.

Bottle. Dark red brown pour with a nice head that left a nice lacing on the edge. French toast, brown sugar, caramel, clay. Mild carbonation initially probably due to the sweetness but get a bit more lively. I struggle with the sweet clay like taste but decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours burnt sienna with off-tan head. Nose is earthy vienna malt, hops, brown sugar, mild vinous fruit. Tastes earthy, malty, with notes of brown sugar, cacao, and lactic creaminess. This one is a very noce brown ale.

A dark malty beer. Smooth and round session style beer. but perhaps lacking complexity necessary to make it stand out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft @ Coalhouse Pizza. This is a malty brown ale with nice dark fruit and heavy spice complex with being too overbearing. Perfect wintertime ale.

Pours bright mahogany into a Sam glass. Bright micro white head with little retention recedes to skim rim. Sour caramel aromas. Thin with sweet molasses and toffee upfront turning to bitter dried fruit in the lasting finish.
