Good malty coffee nose. Tan head with excellent lacing. Very smooth drinking. I don't detect the high abv at all. The finish is just a tad watery. Overall, a very nice beer.

A whopping 8% abv in this bad fella. Nicely masked between smooth hop sweetness and beautiful roasted malt. Very nice indeed.

Brownish Golden beer. Has a strong alcohol smell to it with some distinct hops aroma. Initial taste is medium full. Maltiness in good mix with hops. Again, taste waters down a bit towards end and this beer does not warm up well. Beer is a bit too dry in my opinion, though the alcohol is well masked throughout for the most part. Could benefit from more malt or some additional flavors.

7/01: Hmm, I didn’t get the strong alcohol taste that Kaya mentions, though I would describe it as rather full and rich; just not exciting, flavor-wise. One of the tastier ’mainstream’ VT ales, but you can do better. 10/02: beer continues to grow on me. Smooth and creamy, malty and butterscotchy, but with just enough hops to keep from cloying. Definitely a regular for me now.

This is a nice brown ale, uncomplicated and smooth. Slight buttery finish, but not too sweet. Not a bad beer.

This beer is very popular in Vermont, probably more for the alcohol level than the taste, though. Malty, butter like aroma. Strong and sweet. The alcohol seems to overpower.
