3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a clear brown body with a one finger frothy beige head that had decent retention. The nose is very dry and nutty with a bit of earthy huskiness and some caramel. The flavor is a little more on the sweeter side but there’s a nice nutty and burnt caramel base that gets rounded out a bit on the back end with a mild bitterness. Just a light hint at the alcohol content on the finish. Some lingering sticky malt sweetness. Medium bodied, a little clingy, with soft fizzy carbonation. Pretty decent beer, not sure it has a whole lot in common with what I think are the classic examples of the Old Ale style, but whatever I suppose.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle 12 oz.
Pours dark brown with medium beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma is of fruits, grapes, malt, caramel/toffee. Taste is of malt, caramel, slight bitterness, some earthy notes. Alcohol. Hints of acidity. Palate: Medium body. On the sweet side (average balance). Overall: Not too bad. Bold alcohol-wise. Warming. Nice malt notes, but something is off (not very drinkable). Hops do not deliver. I would not go for 2 bottles of that stuff.

The most flavorful offering from The Shed. For such a strong beer, it is very easy to drink with soft chocolate notes.

On tap @ Lighthouse Restaurant & Lounge (Colchester VT). Pours a deep amber/brown color with a creamy tan head. Very little aroma. Some light roasted malt is pretty much it. Taste is roasted malt, grassy hops, and a spicy finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Fourth bottle out of a six-pack procured in Vermont, decided to make it my first taste of beer after mowing the lawn today. Poured aggressively into the pint glass, a vigorous head similar to Guinness. Aroma of cocoa and toffee, noted both today and upon first bottle I opened earlier in the week. Sweet but toasty, biscuity, reminds me slightly of a shortbread cookie, and I keep going back to chocolate/cocoa flavoring as I taste it. No detectable heat from the alcohol, I agree with the description, great malt depth and drinks like a session beer.
