ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Feb 23, 2007 Also from a growler purchased at Downeast Beverage on 12/23/06. Consumed that night Continuing with my agreeance, I also think this is the best Sheepscot I’ve had yet. A very unique beer, for sure. It’s all about the yeast on this one. While there’s plenty of fresh, nutty yeast, the flavors it’s produced (and aromas) are exquisite. Light cherries, almonds, vanilla all make for a perfectly authentic English ale. Great chewy texture, lots of fresh barley flavor and light pale malts. Spicy hops are light, but authentic. Maybe a bit more malt depth/softness would help, but the dryness makes it that much more drinkable. Zesty, rather tight carbonation makes it nearly creamy. Great stuff. My only complaint is the excess of yeast flavor (not ester, but actual flavor of the yeast) giving a bland, nuttiness that dulls the otherwise wonderful flavor and aroma. Very surprising beer. ruggedman (429), Portland, Maine, USA Jan 14, 2007 From a big growler purchased at Downeast Bev. I think this is the best Sheepscot i’ve had yet. Delicous balanced pale and amber malt with some great hop balance. I’m just impressed with how well made this brew is, prefect balance. Aroma and flavors compliment eachother well even though they are starkly different. Try this if you see it.
