blindeyedbetty (99), Arlington, Virginia, USA Mar 30, 2008 12 oz. bottle pour. Pours strawberry-copper color with off white head. Aroma of mild fruit and some hops. Tinny, almost metallic front palate with warm malt in the middle and hoppy finish. Pretty run-of-the-mill; nothing special.
acrdz (4376), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 14, 2008 Growler shared by kmweaver pours bright and sharp honey yellow/orange with a white head. Clean, direct nose of semi-sharp pine-mineral hop cones, lacking any noticeable defects, leaving a fairly clean smell that is something I tend to like in IPA. Flavor is appropriately bitter and sharp, fresh and somewhat green - light bite of pine wood, some sweetened cracker-pils malt flavors, nicely drying and sharp and refreshing in the finish. kmweaver (2125), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Jul 13, 2008 Growler, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of Ryan. Thanks! Pours a hazy, golden-orange color; white head with mixed-bubbled lacing. Lots of earthy and citrus bitterness in the aroma; very dry, crackery bitterness; some candy sugar and earthy malts underneath. Highly carbonated; lots of citrus and earthy hoppiness upfront; mild astringency; drying, dense hop character; pretty solid IPA from Shenandoah; well-hopped, very earthy and dry; slightly hallow malt core. Lengthy finish: basic sugar, citrus and earthy bitterness; nicely dry end. Cobra (1033), In the snake pit, Maryland, USA Jan 25, 2008 Draft at Dremo’s. Poured out a vivid straw yellow color, with a minimal white head. Aromas are all hops, with some fruity notes. Flavors are all hops, slight malts. Not balanced, but drinkable. Medium mouthfeel, slightly over carbonated. Decent enough beer overall. radagast83 (1071), Springfield, Virginia, USA Mar 31, 2007 Draft at Dremos. Golden color, with thin white head. Nice floral and citrus aromas, with a nice fruit and hoppy flavor. A certainly respectable example of a IPA.
