blindeyedbetty (94), Arlington, Virginia, USA Apr 19, 2008 12 oz. bottle pours black coffee colored with no head. Aroma of molasses and malt. Front palate is nutty with a malty middle and a finish of fish. Yep. Fish. It’s weird. Aftertaste is slightly woodsy. Not the best nut brown I’ve ever had and I can think of many other Shenandoah beers I’d recommend over this one.
Cobra (1029), In the snake pit, Maryland, USA Jan 6, 2008 12 oz. brown longneck bottle. No freshness date or UPC code either. Poured out a dark amber color, with a decent tan colored head. A little fizzy to start with. Aromas are of sweet root beer, some caramel, very slight roasted aromas as well. Flavors are of spicy hops, herbal root beer, sweet malts. No nuttiness in this one. Medium mouthfeel, but slightly over carbonated.
Decent enough ale overall. Alcohol is well hidden, finished balanced.
