Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Great condition. Lovely head. Yes cheese yeast aroma, it’s ok, got great character, but not sure I like it that mcuh. Decent best bitter, good hop on finish. It’s like Sheps Kent’s Best but a bit hoppier, good lasting bitterness. Plenty of yeast character.

12th April 2010. Clear amber beer. No head, low carbonation. Semi dry palate. Dry malt and then some balancing bittering hop that is orangey. Mildy bitter aftertaste. An unremarkable US beer reproduced in all it’s unremarkableness in the UK. What was the point again?

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Copper with white head. Once I was over the sweet, sherbety strawberry fruity notes it actually tasted quite reasonable, there is a toffee caramel note with a good malty depth and a little earthy. It was ok.

Cask conditioned handpump Last Plantaganet Leicester. An amber coloured beer with a tightish whitish head. Good fruity hops in the aroma with sweet berry like notes. Fairly jammy in the mouth. Decent hops and nice supporting malts. Hints of sweetness. Reasonable length and pretty tasty.

A Mes rate. Cask at Baker Street ’Sporks. Clean amber brown with a thin off white head. Lovely fruity and floral aroma. Really flowery in fact. Pleasant enough in the mouth but it never quite sits right. Again, very floral, lots of citric character and with some excellent lengthy bitterness but the malt feels a little weak and is far too bready for my liking. I was hoping this would be great. Sadly it’s just standard. Drinkable but just doesn’t seem thoroughly integrated.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 leaparsons (7071) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - APR 13, 2010
Cask, Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Hazy amber with a speckled head. Aromas are brown sugar with herbal notes and spices. Woody with peach fruitiness and grapefruit. Some hints of vinegar. Flavours are dry and woody with spices. Some sweet crystalised fruit dried fruit. Very peppery on the palate. Still not great.

Cask at The Penny Black, JDW, Bicester, Oxon 10-04-10 in company of Craig and family and Loz of course. Pours amber with a small white head. Got to be honest I was bitterly dissapointed with this expectation was hig but reality was that it was pretty poor, in its defecnce it was getting towards the end of the cask so I was told, but still it had such little taste, no real bite, the fruitiness that was there was really shallow, in fact it was like everything in the aroma and flavour department had been turned down to zero, hoppy profile was lacking, aroma was pretty non-existent apart for a vague chemical taint (but to be fair that could have been a dishwashered glass) poor.
