Having had a twiggy mess from the same brewer on my previous drink - I feared the worse! However ... this was a great beer, hopped up bitter meets ESB. Would happily seek this out again!

the colour of this Ale i thought was wonderful. Good taste to it. Good use of hops in the beer, which made it in all a good standard Ale.

Not usually keen on Shephard Neame beers, although I’ve drank many of them. This is excellent well hopped with a great aroma, reminds me a bit of Old Speckled Hen

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 RichardW (1175) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - MAR 18, 2010
Cask, Griffin, Carlisle. Think I may have caught a slightly tired example of this. Slightly flat, mid-brown beer, hints of caramel and antisceptic. Tangy on the back of the throat. Will re-rate if I see it again.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 harrisoni (11023) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAR 14, 2010
Cask handpull at Vernon Arms, Liverpool. Crazy, I come all the way from Kent where I can’t find it, to Liverpool, where I can. I almost missed the pump clip at the end of 6 handpulls and had to squint to see who the brewer was of this amber ale. Of course, once I saw what it was, I ended up drinking a pint and a half of it. Deep amber in colour, with a lasting cream head. It’s a decent amber with that rich slight roasted maple syrup pecan nut flavour which I like so much. Some Sheps yeast. Now almost obligatory hop all over it. Can’t believe it. They’re turning out good stuff. Great malts, really good hops on the finish, like earthy really fresh hop. Brilliant.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MesandSim (7118) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 13, 2010
A Mes rate: Cask at the Falcon in Clapham. Clean rich amber coloured with a thin bubbly off white head. Big grassy hops, great wooden character and some excellent earthy malt. Obviously a Shepherd Neame beer, their house character is so distinctive. Yet another jolly good brew from the Sheps micro kit.
