Whilst it has hints of sweet fruit, it has a heavy toasted earthy flavour which is actually quite nice.

This is a decent bitter given the general difficulty of finding a good easily accessible version of this style.

Cask by handpump at Henglers Circus, Glasgow - clear amber, creamy off-white head, roasted caramel malt aroma, caramel malt flavour, possibly a hint of dark chocolate, low carbonation, good temperature, pleasant malty aftertaste

Amber in color with a creamy khaki head. Bread and toffee notes on the nose with a hint of dark fruits. Kind of watery, but some mild caramel on the finish. The flavor is quite watery and has a strange prune flavor to it. A lot of toasted bread with a bit of toffee to it as well. Not much in the way of hop character either on the nose or palate.

Not too apparent in the aroma, but this taste is certainly of roasted malts. Golden dark in colour.

Cask (?, Canterbury)
Almost milk chocolate initial aroma, but loses the chocolatey aspects later. Smooth palate, soft carbonation. Full in the mouth. A lot of earthy bitterness. Finish has some sweet roasted malts, and dry bitter hops, a touch astringent. However, an easy to drink strong bitter.

Pint at the Britannia in Guildford. Nice head initially, on a copper red pint. Nice pine hop aroma. Bitter, light, and with a dry finish. A lot less interesting than the bottled equivalent however.
