COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle and can: Filtered.
Launched 1958.
Bishops Finger takes its name from the finger-shaped signposts which pointed pilgrims on their way to the tomb of Thomas a Becket in Canterbury and was the first strong ale to be brewed by Shepherd Neame after malt rationing was eased in the late 1950s. It is one of the UK’s oldest bottled beers, brewed since 1958.
Bishops Finger holds EU Protected Geographical Indication, recognising its unique provenance. Uniquely, it is brewed to a charter which states it can only be brewed by the head brewer on a Friday and that it must be brewed using 100% natural ingredients, Kentish hops and barley, and the brewery’s own artesian mineral water.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2013 Bitter? Indeed! Sharp bitterness lingers on the palate. Aroma is toffee and gingerbread, dried fruit. Taste is more of the same with an abrupt finish. Color is dark amber with lasting creamy head and nice lacing.

500ml bottle. Clear copper amber colour, foamy tan head which leaves lots of lacing and strong malty aroma. Taste is sweetish malt with caramel, fruity & slight toffee notes and a spicy earthy hop bitterness. Smooth, medium bodied, medium carbonation, quite OK.

This good old English Ale is just that, the moment I pop open the bottle the smooth aroma comes seeping out. The appearance is just the same with its reddish perplex-ion and smooth white foamy head! The taste is sharp on the tongue with a lingering acidic value on the palate. Over all a great English Ale!
