Launched 1958.
Bishops Finger takes its name from the finger-shaped signposts which pointed pilgrims on their way to the tomb of Thomas a Becket in Canterbury and was the first strong ale to be brewed by Shepherd Neame after malt rationing was eased in the late 1950s. It is one of the UK’s oldest bottled beers, brewed since 1958.
Bishops Finger holds EU Protected Geographical Indication, recognising its unique provenance. Uniquely, it is brewed to a charter which states it can only be brewed by the head brewer on a Friday and that it must be brewed using 100% natural ingredients, Kentish hops and barley, and the brewery’s own artesian mineral water.

A bit boring beer, with very soft flavor overall. Tastes like average strong lager, as for me.

A darkish copper colour and a slightly off-white head. Pleasant, slightly sweet, malt taste with fruity overtones. Nice hoppy flavour and dry finish, but nut overly bitter. This is a very clean- tasting beer with a good balance of flavours. A reliable pasteurised ESB but not extraordinary.

Beige layer, clear copper beer. Malts to the nose, hints of whisky, berries n fruits. Tastes juicy roasted malts, black prunes, citric notes, nuts n peel. Dry on palate, serious body, low carb. Modest bitterness follows until the end. Fruity malts, dark bread, grains n nuts. Nice allround ESB - luckily it’s distributed to many countries. (44cl can abv5.2% b@systembolaget kalix city)
