Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles and cans.
NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.
Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What's behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain's best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

500mL clear bottle from LCBO, thankfully not skunked. Pours to a dark amber with a large off-white head that fades in a few minutes, but leaves plenty of lace on the glass. Slightly floral aroma. Tastes of dry malt and a touch of fruitiness, well-balanced with the hops. Low carbonation, mouthfeel is rich but slightly flat. Overall, a good beer, but will be appreciated more if you don’t drink it every day.

this beer tasted too astrigent for me, the aroma reminded me of sweet tea, it bites off strong but the rest is unpleasnt licorice and a bit woody. it is possible I got a bad batch.

Notes from old review... Served at cellar temperature in Duvel glass. Nice big sweet aroma; biscuity, nutty toffee and a tad of citrus hop. Clean bronze body with creamy white head atop with lace. Rich full body. Biscuity malts, notes of toffee, hop flavour lifts at the end. Finish lingers a bit, reasonably bitter. Tasty drop this one.

500 ml bottle. Deep copper color, off-white head. Hoppy, fruity aroma. Bitter flavor with some metallic notes and a touch of cured wood.

Bottled. Copper to amber coloured beer. Pours with a rich, floffy and a bit cloudy head that leaves very nice lacing. Hoppy aroma has fruits (apricot, water melon), pine and resin hops and some floral notes. Malts are caramel sweetish. Flavor is dominated by the pine-like bitterness and balanced with some malty sweetness. The finish is long and quite straightforward: bitter without notable fruity aromas. Palate is medium bodied, soft carbonated and in the finish sticky bitter.

Bottle at EBF08. Weak nutty aroma. The flavour is malty and nutty, quite round. Roasted hint in the finish. Clear chestnut colour.
