Bottle: Filtered.
A pale, golden, brilliantly bright, hoppy ale, brewed with 100% pale malt and the choicest East Kent Golding hops. This was a hugely popular ale in its day and has now risen Phoenix-like for the modern drinker to enjoy.
There is a legend at Shepherd Neame that Brilliant Ale was inspired by the vision of the bright early morning sun sending its golden shafts of light through the brewhouse window and onto the oak mash tun, inspiring the brewing team to brew a beer that echoed these hues. Historically this recipe was formulated with 100% pale malt and was bittered by the brewery’s signature East Kent Goldings hops, resulting in a golden, brilliantly bright, hoppy ale which has risen Phoenix-like from the ashes of time for the modern drinker to enjoy.

Not brilliant as the name would suggest but a very decent golden blonde ale light tasty if not a little bland highly drive drinkable stuff.

Bottle. Clear golden, frothy whitish head. Toffee and creamy notes in aroma. Slightly harsh notes at first. Some toffee and metallic spikes beneath the surface.

50cl bottle from Alko. Pours amber color with a thick white head. Looks nice. Malty nose, some toffee and biscuits. Bit harsh at times. Flavor has biscuity malts, sweetness, floral notes, hops. Long finish.

Copper colour with smallish, lacing leaving head. Aroma has caramel malts, some grassy hops and maybe some wooden notes too. Caramel malts, wood, some cookie and ending with grassy hop flavour. Medium body and medium carbonation.

Aika rängsteri. Peruskamaa lisähumalalla. Tavan pubikalja killiin. Ei kummoinen. Aivan liian tavis.

Bottle from Waitrose, consumed at home. Deep mid-gold with a loose white head. A fair bit of carbonation, but not quite as much as your average supermarket bitter. Light aroma, bit of lemony citrus and hay. Taste is an improvement: sharply sweet, with malt and sugar candy backing up the citrus. Limeade finish. It lacks the straightforward simplicity of the cask version, but the higher ABV adds a much-needed oomph. Pretty darn good.

White medium head. Clear golden. Malty aroma and taste. Nice noble balance. Good bitterness. Very enjoyable. Full bodied. Wood, biscuit.

Golden body white head. Aroma has some fruity hops grainy malt. Bit watery and grainy. Malty more than hoppy.

Bottle. Citrus, honeyish malt and esters in the aroma. Unfortunately the taste is a bit oxidised (cardboard), light bitter vs. dull sweet, with a somewhat bready aftertaste. Nothing special.
