Bottle, pasteurised. A classic ale to celebrate the birth of Robert Burns, Scotland’ national poet, born January 25th 1759. Full bodied and malty, brewed using Pale, Crystal and Brown malts with generous quantities of the choicest Scottish Oats. A beer to bring poetry to the soul and to warm the cockles of the heart. Savour the flavour for Auld Lang Syne.

Bottle, Lidl. Dark amber with a rather big bubbled white head, it lasts well tho! Aroma and palate are both malty, another rater mentioned coffee, which I noticed as well. A pleasant bitter, would try again.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear brass with a one finger, off white head. Aroma is a touch skunky with mild caramel, traditional hops, and toffee. Taste is balanced with a touch of bittering hops, caramel, toffee, and a slightly bitter ending. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a dry finish. Overall better than I expected. Slight skunk with notes of caramel, toffee, and a dry finish.

500ml bottle, BB Dec 2015, from LIDL and consumed at a work do at a BYOB. Dark reddy brown, slight haze, big off-white head. Body is medium, low-ish carbonation, slightly foamy. Taste is malt-forward, slight ash, slightly sweet, soft bitterness. Predictably average. My colleagues hated it, but I thought it was at least passable.

Deep brown. Typical Sheps hoppy nose with toasty caramel notes, malty with more toasted caramel, faint marmalade, very drinkable.

A mid to dark amber brown coloured beer with a weak white head. A light roasted malt aroma, nutty and caramel. Dry mouthfeel. A dry malty taste, nutty, dark caramel, plus a hint of oat. There is a mild bitterness in the background. The finish is long and dry. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: Fault: Highly Oxidized, paper., Malt: dark fruit, bready. Hops: musty. Appearance: Dark copper, clear body. Medium, off-white head. Good retention, dense. Flavour: Medium-high bitterness, medium-light sweetness. Caramel, biscuit, lingering bitterness, light paper, slight astringency, Floral hops, dry finish Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-light carbonation. Creamy. Overall: The oxidation is overpowering on aroma, but it does dissipate, allowing other aromas to come through. Although the oxidation can be tasted, it is not as aggressive. 500 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 8B. Special/Best/Premium Bitter

500ml bottle from Lidl. Pours clear mahogany with a thin, but long-lasting white head. Aromas of grain, malt, brown malt specifically, and light british herbal hops. Taste has some bitterness to back up the sweetened coffee. Palate a bit thin. OK.
