3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, 1998 vintage found after many years in my shed. Pours clear reddish brown, clear as a bell after all these years. Aroma is dominated by sweet cherry brandy. Didn’t like this beer when it came out, so either it’s aged well or I have as, I have to say, it’s pretty good. Main taste is cherry, with some malt, dry finish, slightly woody, but not stale. Still some carbonation.
Looks like my shed, which had a leaking roof for the first seven months of this year, is as good as any cellar!

Bottle of the 1999 version at chriso’s pre-GBBF ’Raise the Roof’ Shindig ’10. Amber. Odd nutty, musty aroma: apparently almonds. I detected natural gas in the taste as well as earthiness.
