There’s a spicy signature to this incredibly complex cockle-warming winter ale. The nose is reminiscent of raisins, dates and molasses while the palate is vinous with tannin-like notes of leather, vanilla, apricots and a hint of rustic Armagnac on the finish. An awesome after-dinner drop.

Bottle 0,5l. Hazy amber liquid with soft average off white head. Medium body. Medium to strong sweetness. Strong taste at the beginning, light aftertaste. Wine aftertaste. Taste is like beer mixed with wine. Some apples in aroma.

Aroma is discrete toffee and malt. The taste is malty as expected, and I have to say that they managed to supress the alcohol rather nice and instead I get a super small hint from dried apricots and a medium bitterness. In short, a decent brew, but nothing I would write home to momma about (she doesn’t drink beer anyways, so she thinks I’m kinda creepy when I do.)

Bottled, 500ml from Tesco in Banbury. Reddish amber with off white head. There is a spicy aroma to it, the beer itself is a little caramelised and wine like, slightly harsh spice notes then a fruitiness. Quite a mixed bag.

Pours clear amber color with minimal white head. Even worse than expected. A bit caramelised aroma, but really bad.

0.5l bottle. Amber color with beige head and nice lacing. Aroma is fruits, spicy hops and nuts. Taste is slightly bitter with fruits notes. Medium to full body. Overall it’s quite nice and tasty beer.

Deep orange copper, bright as bright and pasteurised/filtered to give the awkward in glass leanness of water. Head is little more than a wafer of white with little legs. Nose is weirdly wedged between offerings of mace and nutmeg, peppery spice, twiggy bark, spiced Biltong and medicinal phenols that tickle the olfactories. Ugh, just plain ugh! Phenolic, medicinal, plastic and burnt plastic notes, Band-aid, chlorine and all manner of nasties. Thin, low in carbonation but just undrinkable. Off-putting; nothing pleasant to say!!! Bottle, Embrun LCBO. Clear copper, frothy white head - looks good. Fruity aroma, a bit of that pasteurized British Ale tea like character as well. Fruity to start in the taste, lots of pleasant malt sweetness after that and then a big alcohol kick at the end - almost liquor like - that is out of balance from the rest. The body is medium to light and a bit watery. Pleasant sipper really, I just think they took the winter warmer part a bit too far and it leaves the beer unbalanced a bit. Decent stuff though.
