There’s a spicy signature to this incredibly complex cockle-warming winter ale. The nose is reminiscent of raisins, dates and molasses while the palate is vinous with tannin-like notes of leather, vanilla, apricots and a hint of rustic Armagnac on the finish. An awesome after-dinner drop.

Bottle. Dark amber with a thin head. Strong, full bodied with a lightly spiced winter fruitiness. Has some sugar in here too, certainly noticeable in its nose.

DWFID; Bottle 500ml. Pours moderate, clear copper with a lasting, lacing frothy creamy, off-white to tan head. Nose is roasted malt, caramel, coffee and spice, light dark, dried fruit, perfumed and mettalic. Taste is heavy sweet and light bitter with a lasting sweet, warming, slight mettalic finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Nice amber color with a finger foam on the top. Aroma is great, like ale should have. It is mildly bitter, not so much alcohol taste. I’ve enjoyed it.

bartlebier (3431) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - FEB 24, 2015
Bulkacious 500 bottle, Xmas ’14 surprise. Caramel orange pour, nicely sticky white head. Caramel sugar, a good whiff of brandy alcohol and orange zest marmelade malts in aroma. Taste sets off lean and inviting with more orange cordial, walnuts, slender toast, then suddenly pierced by brandy alcohol and overpowered in the offset by massive hop and walnut bitterness, dominating into the finish, making a new sweeter sip necessary. Hence a bit unbalanced, - was expecting more of the advertised apricots in armagnac.

Courtesy of Bartlebier, thank you Franck! Couleur cuivrée, très légère mousse. Nez caramel, un peu cremeux, note d’épices. Gout de caramel, un peu grillé et fort houblon amer en fin de bouche, note malt doux et alcool. Corps moyen.

Bottle (Konzum); pours dark amber with an off white head; aroma malt, holiday spices, and a hint of caramel; taste is sweet with caramel and malt; finish more sweet than bitter; not bad but not great either

Hazy deep amber color, average sized off white head. Aroma of yeast, red fruits (raspberries) and malt. Medium to full body, lively carbonation. Sweet, dry and relatively bitter finish. Flat and without any real character, but aroma and body are just fine.

Eructoblaster (3845) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 17, 2015
Bottle - 500ml. Limpid amber body with a thin, instantly fading, off-white foamy head. Fair malty aroma with brown sugar and caramel hints. Taste is bland and a bit oversweetened. It carries some woody notes and ends with a sweet finish. Ordinary.
