Principally coffee, a bit of caramel, hints of meat, dark brown with a creamy and persistant tan head, light/medium body, soft carbonation, coffee and caramel, dry...an old and simple rediscovered recipe that satisfies today.

Poured an opaque black with a slight mahogany edge tint with a one-finger tan dense foam head that diminished to a collar that laced OK. Carbonation low. Aroma of sweet dark chocolate and roasted coffee with an earthiness about it. Taste of strong roasted malt with hints of sweet dark chocolate and coffee that developed into a smoky/burnt flavour; moderate bitterness. Light to medium body, a bit thin for a stout. Finishes with a moderately strong burnt bitterness.

50 cl bottle poured in to a Snifter. Pitch black with a thin, tanned head. Roasted aroma with dark malts, coffee, chocolate, caramel malts, brown cookies. Some cocoa. A herbal bitterness. Taste is bitter-roasted. Medium body with an oily texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and roasted bitter with liquorice and dark malts. Lovely Stout.

Look: Black, clear, with a thick tanned head. Aroma: Coffee on top note, some chocolate, hints of dark bread, dried plum. Taste: Well balanced sweetness vs roastiness, aftertaste roasty bitter. Palate: Medium body, quite smooth, perfect carbonation, no excess alcohol. Overall a very drinkable stout, nice aroma and balance. Apparently the whole bottle got emptied while writing this review...

Pyobon (1268) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAY 20, 2016
Black with a very nice tan head. Nice aroma of dark toasted malts with almost smokey hints, plus coffee hints. Medium body, medium carbonation. Sweet malty start with chocolate hints quickly thins to a sour and smokey burnt taste which develops into a long bitter and burnt finish. I guess it is good for the style, but I don’t find it very drinkable.
