"A celebration of the best that England has to offer. the cream of the crop of malted barley, oats, rye and wheat with Goldings Hops adding a classic bitterness. Full bodied and rich with a mellow mahogany hue. Ideal for St George’s Day."

Bottle from Lidl. Copper-brown with a very thin head. Has a small hoppy nose and a fairly bland malt-hop taste with a small sweetness and small bitterness.

Bottle, now at 3.8%, brown with an aroma of light citrus and spice, a bit watery, though with earthy and lightly tangy fruit malt. Very typical of a Sheps bitter - you’d easily guess it’s one of theirs.

Cask. Dark rust ale with a thick very light tan head. Nose is biscuits and red wine. In the mouth is instant biscuits and dark cocoa cream. A bit like a bourbon cream. There’s dark fruits -plum, little bit of raisin. Finish is long, flavoursome and tasty.

(Cask at Edgar Wallace, Strand, London, 8 Apr 2014) Reddish brown colour with dense, beige head. Malty nose with notes of chocolate, caramel, dark fruit and toffee. Malty taste with caramel, chocolate, toffee, a touch of cherries and a slightly bitter-sweet finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and quite tasty. Nice one.

I hope this is the right one. Drinking it in Prince of Wales in Clapham with a hastily written hand written sign on the front. Let's go for that one anyway. It's yummy. Nutty, chocolatey, caramel. Subtle. Really nice. I'll have another one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from Rhythm and Booze - A good looking beer, deep russet with a pillowy white head. Nose is a little metallic, lots of caramel. Taste is equally metallic, a big malty kick. Nothing to write home about.

Aroma: Chocolate, toast, bread crust, syrup, Appearance: Clear copper body. Thin, long lasting, off-white head Initial Flavour: Medium sweetness, light bitterness, bready, Finishing Flavour: light bitterness, light citrus Palate: Light body, light, fizzy carbonation Overall: Stunning aroma! Would like a bit more body and more bitterness to balance the sweetness, but it is a really nice beer and definitely something that you can give to a new beer drinker! 500 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre. 8A. Standard/Ordinary Bitter
