COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Hailing from the tradition of 18th Century IPAs, which relied on generous hopping to protect exports during arduous journeys, this modern incarnation retains the strength, body and strong hop character which is synonymous with this beer’s provenance.

A glorious showcase of the distinct, heavily hopped beers for which Shepherd Neame is famed, India Pale Ale delivers potent bitterness, offset with generous amounts of pale ale malt to deliver a balanced, yet uncompromising brew.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber colour with a fizzy off white head. Aroma of caramel, bread, oak, grapefruit, red berries and spice. Taste of caramel malt, red berries, grass, grapefruit and spicy bitterness plus a little bit metallic. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation and an oily texture. A dry, spicy bitterness in the finish. A solid traditional beer, nothing more.

bottle @ Hugos. Appearance: pours clear amber with ok soapy white head with some lacing. aroma/taste: grain, hay, biscuit and hints of floral and herbal notes. palette: medium carbonation, medium body, some malt sweetness, average bitterness, medium duration, dry finish and a watery texture. Overall: OK PA, nice hoppy aroma, but the malt dominates the taste profile

Bottle from SuperAlko in Tallinn (€ 2.55). BB Oct 2015. Nice clear coppery golden body with a light beige well-retaining and lacing head. On the nose it’s fruity and caramelly sweet with quite a lot of grassy malts. Taste is similarily sweet of caramel and ripe autumn fruits. Some unpleasant grassy dankness in the finish. Body light to medium with moderate carbonation.

Yeasty, doughy aroma.Pours slightly cloudy amber brown with a slightly tan head of tight bubbles, good lacing. Nice mild hop notes and a slight licorice edge, sour but balaned. Full bodied with a nice mouthfeel, slightl oily, tight carbonation. A very understated IPA. Interesting how the British versions (where it originated) are so much subtler than the American hopathons... I prefer the origin’s efforts.
